Bucs’ defensive lineman Will Gholston announced on Wednesday that he will be self-isolating after coming in contact with someone outside of the team that has tested positive for COVID-19. The eight-year veteran also noted that he contracted the virus during this past offseason, recovering with minimal symptoms.

Gholston, a consistent producer along the Bucs’ defensive line with two sacks, four tackles for loss and 11 quarterback hits in 2020, added to his initial tweet saying that he will continue to be tested daily and expects to re-join Tampa Bay before the team’s Sunday Night Football match-up with New Orleans in Week 9.

This is what a good teammate and a responsible human being looks like.

That’s how you do it. Hopefully since he already had it he will test negative and be fine (even though that doesn’t seem to be a guarantee). Definitely can’t be the one to infect everyone and destroy what we got goin on. He’s a good man and I hope he comes out clean.

There are confirmed instances of people getting COVID multiple times, but they’re pretty rare. Still, it’s absolutely for the best that Gholston is being responsible and he has enough experience that he should be able to contribute on Sunday even if he has to miss practice all week.
