The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have drafted Central Michigan cornerback Sean Bunting with the 39th overall pick in the second round of the NFL draft.
Bunting is a long, fast, athletic corner who excels in press coverage which should ideally fit into the aggressive system that Todd Bowles will implement in Tampa Bay this year. He finished the 2018 season with 37 tackles, two of them going for loss, two interceptions, five passes defended and two forced fumbles over 12 games.
His production in that redshirt junior season earned him All-MAC honors as well as CMU’s defensive player of the year award.
At the NFL Combine, Bunting ran a 4.42 40-yard dash time in addition to a 41.5 inch vertical and a 126 inch broad jump.
Bunting’s Career Defensive Stats:
2016: 18 tackles, 2 INT, 5 PBUs.
2017: 49 tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss, 5 INT, 5 PBUs, 1 FR, 2 FFs.
