Adam Slivon offers his Top 10 Takeaways after the Bucs lost 19-0 to the Jaguars in the preseason finale on Friday night at EverBank Stadium. Slivon reacted as Tampa Bay was shut out in a game that was not an enjoyable watch.

The offense failed to accomplish much, led by undrafted rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels. Daniels entered the night competing for the QB2 spot, but he dealt with vanilla offensive playcalling, several drops by wide receivers, and poor offensive line play. Those were factors in his performance, but he has struggled taking the ball under center and fumbled a snap from Ben Scott. While he remains a promising signal-caller, the team will likely carry three quarterbacks to keep him around, but Jake Browning is set to be the top backup.
Otherwise, there are not many positives for an offense that could not move the football. The run game did little, as Sean Tucker and Josh Williams barely averaged more than 3 yards per carry. The Bucs better hope that the starting offensive line remains healthy, as the backups have not had a good summer — at all.
The defense kept Tampa Bay in the game, recording four sacks and preventing Jacksonville’s offense from doing much. The players who stood out most to me were in the secondary, especially as Ayden Garnes continues to impress, Benjamin Morrison returned, and Miles Killebrew made his defensive presence felt. The outside linebacker room has some interesting decisions to make, including the fate of Jack Pyburn. After another two-sack game, it is hard to see the team letting him go. Will the news about a potential college return factor into the team’s plans? One thing is for certain: there will be plenty to cover over the next 48 hours as the roster is trimmed from 90 to 53 players.
