With cornerback Carlton Davis III going down with a quadriceps injury in the Bucs’ 19-17 win over the Patriots, Tampa Bay could use some more able bodies in the secondary.

While starter Sean Murphy-Bunting is eligible to begin practicing this week after being placed on injured reserve following his Week 1 injury against Dallas, head coach Bruce Arians indicated that’s not in the cards. Murphy-Bunting suffered a dislocated elbow in the team’s 31-29 win over the Cowboys, but will need more time to rehab and recover.

“He’s making progress,” Arians said. “He’s still probably a ways away, but he’s making progress.”

On Monday, Arians was asked to provide an update about other injured Bucs like cornerback Jamel Dean (knee), outside lineabcker Jason Pierre-Paul (shoulder), running back Giovani Bernard (knee) and tight end Rob Gronkowski (ribs), who missed the trip to New England.

“It’s yet to be determined,” Arians said. “I think Jamel Dean should be getting in some practice this week. JPP might be getting a little in. Don’t know if he’ll play yet. So yeah, each one of those guys – we’ll find out more Wednesday.”

Arians provided an update about Gronkowski Sunday night after beating the Patriots.

“Once he had the CT scans some things showed up,” Arians said. “He did have I think three or four fractures and a pinch in the lung. It wasn’t blown up, but we’ll see how long it takes.”

The 3-1 Bucs host the 1-3 Miami Dolphins this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET at Raymond James Stadium.
