Another Bucs wide receiver is on the move as it was announced on Monday that free agent Adam Humphries will sign with the Tennessee Titans PewterReport.com has confirmed.

Humphries hit the free agent market after he and the Bucs couldn’t agree on a number while in negotiations. His new contract with the Titans will pay him $36 million over four years.

The now ex-Bucs receiver signed with Tampa Bay as an undrafted free agent in 2015. He rose up the depth charts over the years after becoming a reliable target for Jameis Winston. Humphries had a career year in 2018, catching 76 balls for 816 yards and five touchdowns.

For the entirety of his four years on the Bucs, Humphries racked up 2,329 receiving yards, 219 catches, and nine touchdowns. He was also a fan favorite and considered a very good teammate in the locker room among his other teammates.

Along with the trade of DeSean Jackson, the Bucs have now lost two of the top four wide receivers.

  1. Wish Hump nothing but the hest like kwon. But like kwon, that is way too much money to pay him if he stays here. Good luck to him

    • If the cap wasn’t a problem, I’d say anything close to what TN is paying him would have kept him here and would have been worth it. Then, we’d only be looking to replace DJax with hopefully a rookie speedster.

  2. This was expected and it is too bad. One of the successes of GM Jason Licht. Maybe he can find a few more undrafted gems this year, you never know.

  3. Wow. Good for Humphries. Now we need to draft another WR and time for Godwin/Watson to step up big time.

  4. Good luck Humphries! Bucs need to upgrade defense and OL with that cap space.

    • Again, he wasn’t cut so this doesn’t give the Bucs any additional cap space. He was no longer under contract. They will get a conditional compensatory pick in the 2020 draft.

      • Buc could have cleared cap space to resign Hump. But they chose not to because his asking price was too much. Instead the Bucs will clear cap space when the time comes to upgrade defense and OL.

It is all about opportunity costs. Cheers!

  6. Damn, $9 mill for a slot receiver. Edelman is the No. 1 slot eceiver. In the league and I think he is making $3 mill.
I really like the Hump but not for $9 mill. Way to much money but he will make Mariotta a better QB and should fit in well with a team that likes to run inside slants a lot. Hope he doesn’t get killed.

    • It’s all about what the market will bear for his services. Edelman signed his $3 mil contract when? Hump and TN just moved the bar, that’s all.

      • Crowder signed with the Jets for $10 mil per year. If that is the going rate for slot WR’s that is hard and easy pass every time.

Better off just drafting a slot WR and calling it a day.

  7. This was the easiest prediction which came true. It sucks, but that’s business in the NFL. I’ll wish him the best except for whenever they play the Bucs. He was a damn good receiver for us.

  8. Humphries moves on to Tennessee and will be a key part of the Titans success. Mariotta has made the playoffs already and this move helps them in a division that is up for grabs.

  9. Of all the necessary moves this hurts the most. Oh I realize we need cap room but this was a hardworking good locker room performer. He worked his way up and now may get a chance to compete in playoffs and benefit from the fruits of his labor. Good luck Hump.

  10. Overpaid and no Mariotta is not doing anything. The guy can barely stay on the field. Humphries a good guy but not worth 9 million

    • For all of Mariota’s injury issues he has still won 10 more games than Winston. Led his team to 3 successive winning seasons and has actually beaten quality teams. All Winston has done is put up numbers, good and bad, (not Wins) and get in more off field trouble.
