The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Tuesday that the team has promoted cornerback John Franklin III and wide receiver Jaydon Mickens from the team’s practice squad. In addition, the Buccaneers have waived wide receiver Ishmael Hyman and tight end Jordan Leggett.

Franklin III (6-1, 186) has been with the Buccaneers practice squad since Week 11 and was with the Chicago Bears throughout the 2019 preseason, after spending part of the 2018 season on Chicago’s practice squad. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native spent his final collegiate season at Florida Atlantic, converting from quarterback to wide receiver, and playing in 13 games.

Mickens (5-11, 170), who was signed to the Buccaneers practice squad on December 19, played in 16 career games for the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2017-18, recording six receptions for 77 yards and two touchdowns, in addition to fielding 39 punt returns for 346 yards and eight kick returns for 169 yards. The Los Angeles native originally entered the league as a college free agent with the Oakland Raiders during the 2016 offseason. In 53 collegiate games for Washington, Mickens totaled 203 receptions for 2,187 yards and 12 touchdowns, in addition to picking up 190 yards on 32 career carries (5.9 avg.).
