The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Tuesday that the team has promoted cornerback John Franklin III and wide receiver Jaydon Mickens from the team’s practice squad. In addition, the Buccaneers have waived wide receiver Ishmael Hyman and tight end Jordan Leggett.

Franklin III (6-1, 186) has been with the Buccaneers practice squad since Week 11 and was with the Chicago Bears throughout the 2019 preseason, after spending part of the 2018 season on Chicago’s practice squad. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native spent his final collegiate season at Florida Atlantic, converting from quarterback to wide receiver, and playing in 13 games.

Mickens (5-11, 170), who was signed to the Buccaneers practice squad on December 19, played in 16 career games for the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2017-18, recording six receptions for 77 yards and two touchdowns, in addition to fielding 39 punt returns for 346 yards and eight kick returns for 169 yards. The Los Angeles native originally entered the league as a college free agent with the Oakland Raiders during the 2016 offseason. In 53 collegiate games for Washington, Mickens totaled 203 receptions for 2,187 yards and 12 touchdowns, in addition to picking up 190 yards on 32 career carries (5.9 avg.).

Bucs need to start drafting OL like they do DBs. Early and often.

Happy Holidays to all who post here and all of you writers at The Pewter Report. Although our opinions of the Bucs differ, we all want them to see Superbowl land again one day. Lets all hope for an even better record next season.

Franklin is a cornerback who played played quarterback and receiver in college, or am I reading that wrong?

My Christmas wish has been a new QB and an OL than can run block consistantly. We have too much talent on offense to be beating ourselves. With Winston at QB this will continue to happen, he is a turnover machine and gas not progressed after 5 yrs and 3 coaches.
