Since January, PewterReport.com had LSU linebacker Devin White in all but one of our mock drafts, including the first two and the final two. We should have stuck with White throughout, especially after hearing White and head coach Bruce Arians on Thursday night.
“It was crazy, like I just know, and Coach Bruce said, ‘You’re a hell of a player, you’re probably going to be taken really, really, early, and if you’re still there at five, then I want you on my team,” White told the Tamp Bay media on a conference call soon after being drafted. “I want to help develop you.’ And when he said that, he was a man of his word.”
Is a video released by the Buccaneers, Arians reminded White of his promise, telling the horse-riding, leading tackler at LSU, and now fifth overall NFL Draft pick, “Ain’t never a doubt.”

Whether there was very much – if any – serious discussion of Tampa Bay considering Kentucky outside linebacker Josh Allen or Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver at No. 5 instead in the Bucs’ war room on Thursday might never be known. It is apparent the team didn’t settle for White, and are ecstatic to have him in the building.
Day 2 of the draft begins tonight at 7 p.m. and the Buccaneers are slated to have the 39th pick(second round) and the 70th selection(third round). PewterReport.com will have live coverage once again on Friday night with our videocast and also again on Saturday.
Scott Reynolds has a list of possible Day 2 options and you can read that here.
