Even though the initially report jumped the gun a bit, the Buccaneers have now made it official that they are waiving kicker Chandler Catanzaro.

  1. We would be better off not even signing a kicker. Just go for two and let the punter kickoff. That is of course if Koetter gives up play calling so we can actually score touchdowns.

    • With Koetter calling the plays, we will fail in the red zone more often. So that means more FG attempts. See how Koetter makes players look worse? 😉

    • If that is correct, then everybody is getting fired at the end of the year. GM for picking kickers. Coaches for bad play calling. QBs throwing up ints, like it is going out of style. Regime Change coming.

    • Unless the end game is that Koetter really is Dead Man Walking and his job is to go 3-13, only way it makes sense. He is obviously not as good on game day as is Monken who at least has a clue – whether or not Koetter designed the plays, he is not the answer on game day. Another thought, Fitz again? Unless a magic genie appears and the Bucs go 7 and 0 down the stretch this is just stupidity. If the purpose is not to owe Jameis 20 million (which is understandable) then why dress him? Put Ryan II as back-up. No one is going to give even a 7th round pick for him irrespective of whether they keep him in bubble-wrap, so why bother? If this is a revenge only designation, then admit it and cut him loose. He isn’t going to find a team to sign him for 2019 at that salary. That being said, the best thing Jameis could do is agree to renegotiate a 7-10 million contract for next year – this still might be his best bet to have one more year to prove himself once the house cleaning begins (I doubt seriously he will get that as a free agent so maybe something he should seriously consider). I could care less about Licht at this point, but Koetter should be selling cars or sign as a Division I coach (assuming some college is willing to take the chance). He has admitted, he has no clue as to what to do; he has admitted he threw the game by calling for a challenge when he couldn’t. I hate to say it, as I won’t live long enough for the Bucs to become relative, but let him dig his grave (if that is the Glazer’s plan, to ensure he will never, ever, be a HC in the NFL and is rapidly showing the game has passed him by as an Off Coordinator). Trade what you can for mid to late round picks, bring in new blood, give McCoy and the rest a chance to go elsewhere (including cry-baby D-Jack who doesn’t block or come back to help his QB, the D-Line busts, such as Smith and an over the hill Dotson. Bring in a Football Operations pro to evaluate and/or hire a GM and clean house on the coaching staff. I’m watching one more game this year after watching everyone since 1982 – if nothing changes, I guess it’s time to wait until next year – which starts with the draft and not the last 6 games. Go Bucs – Gerald thanks for your hard work as well as another dozen who have heart – give them a chance to end their career with a team with play-offs in their heart.

  2. Licht you are such a loser. So pathetic. You had Patrick Murray last year kicking well after the Aguayo and Folk debacles. It seemed to solve the problem. Then you get this clown. This is 3 years of a kicking debacle that you caused. No one to blame but you Licht. Remember this when you get fired in 6 weeks. You’ll be sucking hind tit again as a slappy where you belong.

  3. There will never be a GM worse at evaluating a position than Jason Licht evaluated kickers.

Licht was bad at many things but Brindza, Aguayo, Folk and Cantanzaro managed to be league worst kickers while here. I have no idea how someone can spend premium draft picks and above average salary and come up with bottom feeders every time, but Licht did it and he did it better than anyone.

  5. Good. He sucks. As usual they are late in doing this like the firing of Mike Smith. This is just a joke of a franchise last decade or so. Still a fan but every year I lose more and more interest with this team and NFL in general. Rules are getting more and more stupid every year too.

  7. I liked Patrick Murray, but he does not have a strong leg and struggled on kickoffs.

He was not the same after his knee injury.

  9. It wasn’t early by Jenna, the team just decided it was in everyone’s best interest to tell Koetter last. They apologize for the confusion.

  10. FINALLY he should have been gone weeks ago. We schools sign a kickoff guy and go for it on 4th down if to close to punt & go for 2 after TDs. We have zero to lose this team aint going no where, we’re in the south basement like always. Let’s start a new trend. Or we can start another one next yr, maybe try the 1st round next time.

  12. Yes, by all means don’t let Koetter call the plays anymore.
Did you see the moron throw that interception, fumble the ball, drop the pass, snap the ball poorly resulting in a sack, commit a holding call.
    What a complete buffoon.
Do you know why players like Koetter as a coach?
Because he doesn’t throw them under the bus and keeps everything in house.
He is also shouldering the blame for all of their stupid bonehead plays which the players like since they don’t have to own up to their mistakes by the stupid media and fans.
