The Buccaneers’ communications department announced during the fourth quarter of their game against the Saints on Sunday that Demar Dotson had suffered a hamstring injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the contest.

It was a rough trip to New Orleans for the Bucs’ offensive line, allowing quarterback Jameis Winston to be sacked six times, and this certainly adds to a bad day as the team lacks depth at the position should the injury linger. Tampa Bay has offensive tackles Jared Hawkins and Josh Wells, who was added in September, on the roster, while Earl Watford is also an experienced offensive lineman who has been praised by head coach Bruce Arians for his positional versatility moving forward.

Pewter Report will continue to update the situation as more information is made available.

  1. Dotson played like garbage most of the year so not sure we are worse off.

  2. We still can finish 8-8 this year. O and D linemen next season in the draft and free agency.

    • Well I said earlier in the week that this game would tell us who we are, and a 8 and 8 is who we are right now. Going into the game I felt pretty good that we were turning the corner, but we have ways to go.

  3. twspin agree. I actually predicted 9-7 give or take couple games. They need another pass rusher and hopefully JPP will return on schedule. They also need another lock down CB it seems.

    • Another lock down corner? Who is the first? Hargreaves has skills, but his confidence is shaky, at best. He hets beat once, it happens all game. Davis is our best cover guy, he can’t get out of his own way with all the flags he draws. Murphy-Bunting and Dean are rookies, I’ll withhold judgment on them(especially with Dean not seeing the field a whole lot). Stewart, I forget he’s playing most of the time. Seems as though he does, too. Ryan Smith may be the most important CB we currently have on our roster. That’s only because of his consistently above-average play on special teams. There’s definitely talent in that room, but a lockdown corner we do not have.

  4. And you are correct on needing O line specifically RT as worst area of need. Dotson went from one better RT in league to just being too old it seems to be quality starter.

  5. I’m sticking to my prediction Dot doesn’t hold up this year. He’s been needing to be replaced for the last two! years.

    • Yup I saw it in pre season where he struggled to play a full quarter of pre season game 3. Sad twilight for Dotson but he is giving effort. But that effort is not looking like NFL average consistently.

  6. We need 2 big time OL’s, OT and a OG. But damn we also dont have a lock down DB yet. Our Defense is still weak, Where is our #5 Pick?!! He has to be a Stud, not seen anything even close to deserving of a top 5 selection? Just think who else we could’ve had, Oliver at DT, Allen at DE, and hoping Bush doesnt become the better LB?! And wont start on weak QB player, maybe we get young cheap QB in draft, and drop the poor one we have and then spend money on DB’s, or Defensive players.

  7. Although Jameis played poorly, 3 ints with 2 called back by penalties, he alone was not to blame for the loss. Coaching, players, refs, hostile environment all contributed to this beat down yet we only lost by a touchdown! We could have won this game despite the variables against us. BA got out coached again! Great game plan to take Mike and Shaq off and out of the game. When ur star receiver Evans can’t catch a pass that speaks for itself. Didn’t appear we made much adjustments to what they were doing. Just a shitty game all around! Didn’t see many slants and short stuff to help Jameis out. Perhaps it was because he was under duress the entire game! Sad game to watch indeed! Go Bucs!
