Free agency may not start until March 11th, but that hasn’t stopped any speculation of who will be going to what team. The Bucs themselves have a number of players in the free agent pool this offseason, including three players that will be their toughest decisions on whether or not to bring back: Donovan Smith, Adam Humphries, and Kwon Alexander.

Mike Clay and KC Joyner of ESPN have compiled a list of how each free agent ranks in their positional group, and address the biggest needs for each team on a scale of 1-10.

Smith is ranked as the top overall tackle in his group, while Alexander and Humphries make the top 10 in their respective categories. Here’s a full list of the Bucs free agent rankings:

LT Donovan Smith: 1

WR Adam Humphries: 7

LB Kwon Alexander: 7

QB Ryan Fitzpatrick: 3

QB Ryan Griffin: 16

RB Jacquizz Rodgers: 25

EDGE: Vinny Curry: 11

CB Brent Grimes: 13

I would like to re-sign Humphries, Smith, Fitzpatrick, and Alexander. I think we need to move heaven and Earth to get Humphries and Smith under new contracts. The other two are gravy.
I’m not buying Humphries as number seven. I have seen rankings with him as high as number two. He is a rare talent.

Someone is going to pay big bucks for Humphries.

He’s a legitimate no. 2 receiver on many teams, and a top 5 slot in the league.

Everything I have read makes it seem although the Bucs want Humphries others are going to bid more than the Bucs can afford to pay him. Is that the general consensus?

The one thing going for the Bucs is that Humphries wants to stay in Tampa. He might be willing to take a little bit less. Right now he wants eight million. Bucs should jump on that.

Appreciate your thoughts. I thought he made $3 million last year, so $5 million more. Let’s see what Tampa can do.

CUT D JACKS AND SIGN HUMP

Jordan Chavez

I’m starting to lean towards the best thing for the Bucs might be moving on from Hump.. I realize how important he has been for us and the connection him and JW have. But what if Chris Godwin plays that slot role in BA system, like Larry Fitzgerald did in Arizona? Godwin can play in the slot in 11 personnel and back outside in 12 personnel? Might be easier to find an outside receiver on a team friendly deal to play 20-30 snaps a game rather than over paying for a slot guy who probably has reached his peak and… Read more »

I love Humphries and his contributions he has made for the bucs since being here..but for 8 mil a year? I think he’s going to end up leaving.

Im shocked Donovan Smith is the #1 rated LEFT Tackle in free agency! Didn’t they read the fans comments on the Pewter Report boards! Sure, he might be the 27th best right guard in free agency, but #1 at LEFT TACKLE…IN THE NFL???

I hope you’re all picking up on the sarcasm…Im laying it on pretty thick.

No need to worry though…He will never make it to free agency. They will definitely franchise him or sign him to a nice, long extension.

Any HC, Coordinator, GM, or Scout who reads “any fan board comments” except for amusement have no business in the NFL. Maybe some of the so called analysts would pay attention along with “chatter” from coaches and scouts at the Senior Bowl and Combine, but as history has proven even most of the chatter is for their own amusement or mis-direction.

Franchise tag Smith. Do not give him long term contract just yet! Has to be other options down road.

Maybe try keep Kwon if price is right and knee is ok. Of not move on he’s good not great.

I really Love Hump but sorry he is not worth 8-10 million for slot WR. Especially with other needs.

The rest all need to go for performance and or cap room imo with other needs we have.

I would take Trent Brown ahead of Smith, and who’s to say he can’t be had? The Pats never pay anyone not named Tom Brady. Let’s see what kind of deal he gets, and with who, it might be us.

I say you franchise Smith, and still draft J. Williams with the first pick. Williams would be a younger cheaper option, and better then Dotson on day one. Williams can also breath down Smith’s neck for this year. Williams played RT his first year at Bama, and the last two at LT in the tough SEC. He’s been in big games for a big time program the last three years, winning a championship. The kid is clean off the field, checks all the boxes. We need that kind of infusion of talent into our O line. If Smith does ball… Read more »

Don’t need two left tackles, if anyone still considers Jonah Williams a left tackle. They also don’t need 4 right tackles(Dot, Cappa, Benenoch).

Bucs biggest needs are at defensive tackle, middle linebackers(might need 2), right guard, and running back.

4 Rt Tackles? Don’t know how the Buc’s draft board will work out, but Dotson may or may not be on the team due to age, and Cappa and Benenoch were routinely graded (based on stats) as two of the worst in the league. If they can fit him under the Cap, I would not be surprised if the only one that returns is Dot, unless the new coaching staff see some obvious potential in Cap and Ben that the old regime couldn’t elevate. Not saying they should or shouldn’t draft a Tackle in Round 1 or 2, but at… Read more »

Just have concerns we have to pay Top 5 money for a LT who might be a tad above average at best. What kind of message does that send to average players and our future signings for 2020? Does average teams get to the Superbowl? I would let Smith go test the market.

Best option right now is to tag him, we don’t have a replacement for him right now and the LT market is thin and it’s not guaranteed we can draft his replacement yet, I don’t want our team to reach for a player if we don’t have to. Tagging him will allow us to get another look at smith under a new system and see how he responds while getting paid good money. If he ends up not performing this year, then we can easily just let him walk knowing he is what he is.

I am glad Smith got rated 1st. That allows us to offer him up before Free Agency for a good draft pick. Liedtke can outplay him at LT if we don’t take any LT in the draft or play til the drafted LT is developed to NFL speed. Don’t blow the cap on Turnstyle Smith!

Captain Sly

Liedtke played well in preseason but we don’t know what he can do when pressed into full duty. Tagging Smith is best option and I believe that what they’ll do. Who knows, after we tag him some desperate team may want to trade a 1st Rd pick for him. Since you know he is the #1 rated LT ” wink wink”

Ryan Griffin ranked 16th tells you all you need to know about these rankings. He’s never thrown an NFL pass.

I like Kwon and Humphries. Who ever made this list completely over-rated Smith. It must be one hell of a weak free agency class at the tackle spot for Smith’s rating to be accurate. We could end up franchising Smith not because he is so good (he is not that good). Because the RG position is wide open and there is a series of defensive positions open. At least one of the CB and safety positions is wide open as well. With the total disastrous performance RJ3 at running back last year we are in a bind (again) at the… Read more »

we should strike deal with NE, get Brown and overpay, give NE D Smith cheap then watch Brown underperform for TB, and Donovan win championship at LT with NE! Now that will tell you how much coaching means to players in the NFL. And for that matter, Attitudes! winner or loser? Lets hope BA can resurrect a winning attitude and improve coaching with workable game plans!! We got players, but Loser mentalities! except for a few, aka. JPP for one!
