  1. The Draft Network named Olamide Zaccheaus, UVA’s all-time leader in receptions with 250, as one of their sleepers ahead of April’s NFL Draft. Zaccheaus, who did not attend any All-Star games or the Combine is cited for his speed and ability to separate as two of the main factors that may make him one of the biggest steals in 2019. A great slot receiver needs vision, speed, and must be a good route runner. This kid appears to have all of those traits and more.

Olamide can be had as a UDFA now, but somebody is going to notice and possibly draft him late. I have no idea why he has not gotten more recognition. I did not research if there is off-field baggage that would affect his draft status. Maybe the Bucs should take a look at this guy!

  3. About signing high priced A free agents and still having all kinds of holes left on the team, I actually tweeted Licht about this in terms of the draft. I said, paraphrasing, “when you are mixed on which first rounder to pick, because you have two or more players you like, and you have two or more holes to fill, trade down.” And, we’ve seen him trade down two years in a row.

It sure looks like another draft to trade down, and as always, drafting one player is not going to solve all your problems. There’s all kinds of interesting players in rounds two and below. I don’t know much of the smaller school talent this year, beyond Dt Saunders, but we’ve seen plenty of interesting players do good stuff in the NFL – Freddie Martino and . . . Alan Cross.
