It’s an emergency podcast edition of the Pewter Report Podcast after some huge breaking news. Antonio Brown is eligible to return to football after Week 8 from his suspension and he is signing with the Bucs.

Jon Ledyard goes solo in this episode to break down the big move to break down what makes an already star studded offense get that much better. Was this the right move for the Bucs? How will he fit in along side Mike Evans and Chris Godwin? Did Brady pull the strings to convince the front office to do this? There’s a ton to get into for this brand new episode.

When Arians says he wants nothing to do with Brown and then Licht signs him anyway…..makes you wonder.

Bucs are all in this year. Cannot wait for the Super Bowl.

It wasn’t about that Godwin and Evans weren’t good enough and sure they know that. It’s about the Bucs all in for Super Bowl since Brady is 43. Also Evans and Godwin have not been 100% one single game this year. Lost Howard already too. Gronk is old and could get injured. It’s about having weapons still we need if going to make a run.

Great discussion! Definitely a risk, but just look at the receivers we had on the field for games 15 & 16 last year and the injuries this year to the WR position. Imagine passing on him and going into the playoffs with our WR corps from game 16 of last year. This addition helps ensure we have a quality WR group heading into the playoffs.

I believe this will also open up the Inside running game with RoJo and Fournette out of a 4 wide set.

What’s not to like about Scotty Miller as WR4 getting plenty of snaps when somebody”s got a minor injury–like it’s been all year?

After thinking about it awhile, I suspect that there is a lot more about the various injuries among the receivers corps than we have been informed about.

Time will tell.

Regarding the receivers’ room, I wasn’t thinking about just the next three weeks. Are the Bucs factoring potential “chronic or nagging injuries” impacts at the end of the season and on into the playoffs? Do their sports science people see potential problems down the road? As for BA’s previous comments, maybe “no risk it, no biscuit” overrode his earlier feelings toward AB.  Or on the other hand, maybe being all in for a chance to be the “home” team at RayJay in February is the overriding priority for the Glazers behind the scenes. OK, Pewter Report I can’t wait to find out what insider insights you… Read more »

in toms defense evans and godwin have not been on point with tom they havent been in practice granted theyve been injured but need to play better and maybe this will light a fire under them because in my eyes they played better last year and it feels like there not in games most of the time. i think this is great for us and this is must win team now with the defense playing so well now this offense will be unstoppable, this team could be legendary, may never see a team like this again…ever

Even before this signing there were 7, yes 7, wide receivers on the active roster and another 3 on the Practice Squad. Forget about our top 4-5 players at the position. The question is if Antonio Brown is an upgrade over Jaydon Mickens or Cyril (Boink) Grayson? I think we all know that answer.
