In addition to the players cut to get to the initial 53-man roster, the Bucs have announced they have placed wide receiver Justin Watson on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list to start the 2021 season.
We've trimmed our roster to 53 players, making 23 moves that included the release of seven veterans.

Watson had a surgical procedure done on his knee back in July and was given a four month recovery timetable. Placed on the teams PUP list at the start of camp, Watson has not practiced with the team all summer.
His placement on the PUP list means Watson will be out for at least the first six weeks of the season. He doesn’t figure to be ready for return until November and the Bucs will have until week 11 to activate Watson off the list. Once activated the team will have a 21-day window to add him to the active roster. If either of those deadlines pass, Watson will remain on the PUP list for the remainder of the season.
Watson played in 11 games with two starts in 2020 for the Bucs. He finished the season with seven receptions, five of them for first downs. His biggest impact though came on special teams, where he led the team in tackles. The 2018 fifth round pick has a career 23 receptions for 258 yards and two touchdowns. He has 20 total special teams tackles and is also the only offensive player in franchise history with a sack.
