Bucs QB Tom Brady has become the first Bucs player to grace the cover of Madden, as the quarterback will be featured in the 2022 version of the game. Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes will join him, as the duo becomes the second dual athlete cover in the game’s history. This is the second time both players have been selected for the cover of Madden NFL.

EA Sports teased the release a few days ago with this video of former Madden cover athlete Peyton Hillis saying “they did it again” on a phone call. This came moments after two goats burst from the barn doors.

“It’s obviously very cool to be selected,” Brady told USA TODAY Sports by phone. “I’ve loved the game. I’ve loved EA Sports. They were a big part of my life growing up. … To see what this ‘Madden’ franchise has become over the years is incredible — how it’s evolved and changed, and how the technology’s changed and how they’ve really built an online community of players.”

Brady was last featured on the cover of Madden in 2018, while Mahomes was the face of the game in 2020. Both quarterbacks are currently the favorites to represent the NFC and AFC in Super Bowl LVI, after meeting in the game this past February.

The “Madden Curse” seemed real for the longest time, but both Brady and Mahomes have been two of the rare athletes to spurn the superstition. After making his Madden cover debut before the 2017 season, Tom Brady was the league MVP and took his team all the way to the Super Bowl. The Patriots lost to the Eagles, 41-33, but Brady had one of his finest seasons from start to finish.

Mahomes one-upped Brady by winning the Super Bowl months after being featured on the cover of Madden NFL 20. It wasn’t Mahomes best statistical regular season, but his playoffs performance was arguably the greatest of all time.

Madden NFL 22 will launch on August 20 with a ton of brand new features and elements to the game.

The GOAT and the best QB in the league.

Mahomes is on there as well, but who cares.

I think it’s disgusting how they insist on naming Mahomes any form of a GOAT. There’s no denying he’s talented, but to be deemed the GOAT you have to put in the time and numbers for years. Mahomes may not last a decade the way he’s already gotten beat up. It just devalues the whole GOAT thing when you anoint someone after only a few seasons. The Chiefs won’t be able to keep up their payroll for more than the next year or two. Even If Mahomes wins another 2 Super Bowls wouldn’t that just make him as good as… Read more »

Let’s see Mahomes put up any numbers at all without Hill and Kelce. I bet he’d be nothing more than a decent QB.

Wonder how Mahomes can perform if he had to play under the talent provided by GM Bill Belichick for years? How Goat is that?

No kidding. Belichick the GM has easily been the worst GM in the NFL since 2013. And yet, Brady still won 3 SB’s between 2013-2019 with the Pats

Belichick always seems to be pissed and angry! Never quite understood that. He had the GOAT at QB and the SuperBowls to show for it!

off the field, he’s as nice and genuine as they come. But to the media….yeah he’s a miserable sob. He learned everything he knows from Parcells. And Parcells always hated the media. Looked at them as annoying little weasels always prying for information. So I think BB got this from Parcells

This is terrible news! We need to start a petition to have Brady removed from the cover immediately! We don’t need that kind of bad juju when we’re trying to run it back

We’ve sure come a long way since I was a kid. All we had back then was that football game where the playing field vibrated and the little players that we positioned so carefully bounced around aimlessly. Hmm, now that I think about it. Not much different than those Leman Bennett years.
