Former Bucs cornerback Ronde Barber will spend another year without a gold jacket. The Buccaneer great was not selected to join the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2022.
The Hall of Fame fails to induct Ronde Barber yet again…smh
— JC Allen (@JCAllenNFL) February 11, 2022
Barber’s nomination came after an incredible 16-year career in Tampa Bay. He played in all 16 games every season with the exception of 1997, his rookie year. In that time, Barber racked up 47 interceptions, 28 sacks and 15 forced fumbles. He is the only player in NFL history to accrue more than 25 sacks and more than 40 interceptions in a career. His 14 defensive touchdowns gives Barber the fourth-most non-offensive touchdowns in NFL history. He trails only Devin Hester, Deion Sanders and Ron Woodson. Sanders and Woodson are already in possession of the elusive gold jacket.
Ronde Barber really had 47 interceptions, 28 SACKS, 88 tackles-for-loss and scored FOURTEEN TOUCHDOWNS and isn't in the Hall of Fame yet lol. Super Bowl champ, 3x All-Pro, 5-time Pro Bowl, revolutionized a position. It's gotta happen this year lol. https://t.co/EwX22P8KAL

Former teammate and 2020 HOF inductee John Lynch made his case for Barber during his enshrinement last August.
“I think this guy’s time is coming,” Lynch said. “But Ronde Barber was a teammate of mine in Tampa. And you look at his numbers, you look at everything. I played with the guy, and I saw it firsthand. He’s as mentally tough of a player as I’ve ever been around. The numbers speak for (themselves). I think he, along with Charles (Woodson), defined playing that nickel slot position. He could blitz and he could cover, was always around the ball. He scored touchdowns. He’s a Hall of Fame player. He belongs.”
Barber was a five-time Pro Bowl selection and three-time All Pro. A Ring of Honor member, Barber hopes to join fellow Bucs Derrick Brooks, Warren Sapp and John Lynch in the Hall of Fame from the Bucs 2002 Super Bowl championship team. But it won’t happen in 2022, which will leave Barber and Bucs fans wondering if it will ever happen at all.
