The Bucs got some great news on Tuesday morning as second-year safety Antoine Winfield, Jr. returned to practice after missing Monday’s session. Winfield, a starter, was a full participant in Tuesday’s practice at the AdventHealth Training Center.

Winfield practiced on Sunday in the Bucs’ camp debut but tested positive for COVID-19 afterwards. The team believed it was a false positive as he was retested on Monday morning, but was held out of practice as a precaution.

The Bucs safety position was thinned with the absence of Winfield and starting strong safety Jordan Whitehead, who has missed the start of training camp after being placed on the COVID/reserve list for testing positive. Whitehead tweeted out “3 days left” on Tuesday morning before he deleted the tweet moments later. That could be an indication that his COVID quarantine period is coming to a swift end.

Tampa Bay has also been without newly acquired veteran safety Raven Greene, who missed the third day of Bucs camp on Tuesday due to personal reasons. Bucs head coach Bruce Arians said on Sunday that Greene’s absence was excused, but he provided no timetable for his return as of Tuesday morning.

The Bucs have had to have Mike Edwards and Javon Hagan fill in as the starting safeties with the absences of Winfield and Whitehead. And cornerback Ross Cockrell has also spent the start of training camp as a reserve free safety due to the lack of able bodies at the safety position.

The “rapid” COVID tests, generally done on those who must be tested frequently, are only accurate about 60% of the time when the testing subject is not showing any symptoms of disease. That’s pretty low! So lots of false positives can be expected, and retesting reduces the instance of false diagnoses. The “slow” PCR tests are much more accurate, generally 98-99% accurate. Also, a positive COVID test result does not necessarily mean anything even if it is correct. A person can be exposed to COVID and carry a very small virus load and not only is not sick but cannot… Read more »

At any given time the human body is carrying hundreds if not thousands of invading viruses … but the immune system correctly handles them and defeats them most of the time.

Damn Naples, where do you get off injecting facts, logic and common sense into these types of discussions? You some kind of troublemaker? You may have just stirred up a hornet’s nest. The “Covid is a hoax” and the “force everyone to get a vaccine through government mandate” crowds are both going to come after you for such level-headed commentary. You should know better. LOL!

LOL! True believers believe truly, facts be damned. At any given time there’s a lot more misinformation being distributed than truthful useful information, it seems. Especially if politics are involved.

Here in SW Florida 100% of all the patients in the local hospital ICUs are all unvaccinated – and the ICU cases now – this week – are the highest they’ve been since last winter’s surge. A whole lotta stupids out there!

It would be funny if it wasn’t so ridiculous. The extremists on one side make laws that you can’t put any intoxicant into your body other than government sanctioned alcohol and then scream about government sanctioned vaccines Extremists on the other side scream “keep your laws off my body” regarding abortion but want government agencies to force a vaccine inside your body. I don’t really do politics on this site, and I’m not now, but I WILL do philosophy on this site. I just detest hypocrisy and duplicity regardless of the situation. It would appear to this individual that there… Read more »
