The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Monday the team has signed cornerback Jamel Dean, one of team’s two third-round picks in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Dean (6-1, 206) was selected 94th overall, out of Auburn. Dean played in 26 games at Auburn, totaling 73 tackles (4.5 for loss), 17 passes defensed, two interceptions and one sack. Entering the 2018 season, Dean was a preseason All-SEC second-team selection. He tied for the team lead in interceptions, with two, and had the second-most passes defensed, with nine.

He also ranked second on the team in passes defensed in 2018, trailing only former Auburn Tiger and current Buccaneer Carlton Davis.

The Bucs now just have first-round pick Devin White left to sign from this year’s draft class. Rookies are scheduled to report for training camp in two weeks.

  1. I am very interested to see Devin signed he will get everything his agent is demanding as they know Jason Licht ass on line if he did not get this done . It is a agent dream to have team in this position I am guessing he will get closer to 1st overall money than 5th pick money.
I wonder at what point they will wish they drafted Josh Allen.
Probably Not until they realize Allen’s in the pro bowl and White is not.
For all you ready to jump on this I do know Devin is a good football player he’s just not as good as what was available at fifth pick.It concerns me that Bruce Arians comes out and says he never picks based position need and then he picks by position need makes me believe front office is running the team and not the Bruce Arians.

  2. Well Bob considering you’ve been so right with all your predictions….
    1. Bruce Arians will never coach here
2 N.Sue will never come here
3 book it, Nick Foles will be the new QB here
4 this team lost the best player in Kwon (has only played one full season and has led the league in missed tackles dating back to 2015 even though he missed a bunch of games)
5 DeSean Jackson will still be here this year
And on and on and on. If you guess enough times, you’ll eventually get one right! Is this the one? We can only bite our nails and wait BAB.

  4. Nobody gives rats ass when they sign White or for how much except suck-ass-blob. Don’t forget suck-ass-globs also saying Vea would suck and he tied Sapps rookie season in only 8 games played. He also said JPP sucked and couldn’t stop run. 12.5 sacks later and every analysts or anyone with brain could see he was best player, pass rusher, run stopper on this defense and Bob looks like the negative dumbass he is.

  5. Chef for the record I wanted Foles and Bell , I said that they should get Foles and bell you said I was fool Foles was not better than Jameis.
Yes I was surprised Suh signed , AT the time I did not know 31 other teams had passed on him.
I said Jackson should still be here never thought they would keep him.
I was shocked they let Humpchies go they felt he was not worth 8mil and patriots thought he was worth 10.
I wonder who will be right ? Bucs or Patriots .
Glad to see your back I missed your posts telling me how stupid I am.

  7. It seems every year somewhere in the NFL there is a “Starry Eyed Rookie” holding out for guaranteed money. This year it’s the Bucs’ turn. I have a question for the panel: If for some reason they cannot agree on a deal, and White does not sign, what happens? Does he just float away into the ether, get picked up by another team, would we get a compensatory pick next year? Didn’t Bo Jackson do that to us way back when? He refused to sign with Tampa and instead went into baseball for a year until he signed the following year with the Raiders. Something like that. I don’t really feel like fact checking myself right now. I would just like to know the possibilities of what might happen if…

  12. Mike Edwards will be an interesting player to watch at camp. He could challenge for a starting role immediately according to many in the media who have seen him during the minicamps. I’m glad he’s inked and can lock in on the upcoming competition.

  13. This defense is gonna be a lot of fun. It has all the elements to be dominant.

    Great run stuffers up front.
Fast linebackers who can blitz and cover.
Young secondary with size and speed that prefers pressing.
    Ball hawking safeties.

  14. Glad the Bucs signed another pick. With Jamel Dean in the fold, I think the Bucs will get tons of interceptions this year. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say the Bucs get 14 INT’s this year. THat would be 5 more than last year and would be in the top half of all teams.

  15. For the record, White stayed his second contract was gonna be expensive. Everyone picked up on that and was a turn off initially but if he’s expensive for his second contract that means he lit it up for 4-5 years which is fine. Him not signing yet has nothing to do with that, he will sign for what he is supposed to sign for between Picks 4 and 6. Him not signing yet almost definitely has more to do with the Bucs waiting to see if they will sign someone else or what moves they will need to make to sign him and still have money to sign another Free Agent.

  16. Some people also don’t seem to understand that letting a player go in Free Agency doesn’t automatically mean their original team doesn’t think they are worth the money. The Bucs didn’t need to pay 8-10 million for Humphries because they have Godwin and even Howard to play the slot and it did not make sense to pay so much for a Slot dump pass receiver when we had other options to take his place while other teams who are more desperate for WR help are more willing to take the chance that he was more than just a Slot receiver. If we didn’t have depth at WR we might very well have paid Humphries 8 million to try his hand at the outside, it we didn’t have to do that. Not everything is just Black and White, I’m surprised some people stay alive that only see things that way.

  17. I was hoping macabee would make an appearance and explain the rookie salary pool to Bob. Absent my friend mac’s tutorial, I’ll do my best to simplify it. .

Since only the Devin White signing remains, he will get what is left. Oh, the contract could have some nuances and payout details, but that’s what it will be in the end. The days of hold-outs ceased with NFLPA deal.

  18. The money is capped, the only thing that holds up signing is how the bonus is paid out, like what amounts, and when. Nick Bosa did the same thing to the Chargers, I guess they shouldn’t have drafted him. White will sign, and be in camp. This is really nothing. Oh, and Bob, BA did say you don’t draft for need,BUT, when need meets talent it’s a no brainer. Kinda like you sound, no brains.

  19. We all know he will get 30-33 Million more than 4th pick , the hold out is for the guarantee and he will get what he wants in the end. His guarantee will be a number far greater than he could get from other team.
I wonder if in back of Devins mind he thinks about gerald McCoy going pro bowl year after year and never seeing a playoff game and nobody knowing who he is, I wonder if Devin thinks about and watching his former LSU buddies in playoffs on other teams from his recliner every year.
I wonder if Devin pictures himself in a Black Raider uniform or a Cowboy uniform playing in the new multi billion dollar stadiums to sold out crowds, and not playing to mix of 15,000 1/2 Bucs and 1/2 fans from the other team in Raymond James. This guy has the head size to think like that!
