With inside linebacker Devin White and outside linebacker Shaq Barrett being placed on the NFL’s Reserve/Covid-19 list, Tampa Bay has signed linebacker Jack Cichy from the New England Patriots’ practice squad to the active roster, per Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.

A sixth-round draft pick to the Bucs by way of Wisconsin in 2018, Cichy totaled six tackles in 15 games over three seasons with Tampa Bay but found also found himself on the injured reserve in each season. After landing on the injured reserve with a hamstring injury in 2020, Cichy was activated in late November, waived on Dec. 2 and claimed by the Patriots before being signed to New England’s practice squad.

Cichy will provide familiar depth at inside linebacker, along with rookie Chapelle Russell, behind Lavonte David and veteran Kevin Minter who is expected to start in place of White against Atlanta on Sunday.

Thank God we have Kevin Minter, not much of a drop off in terms of talent and a savvy veteran. Hurry back White and Shak.

Yeah, Minter is heady and reliable. David still gives the presence of sideline to sideline speed, and ATL doesn’t have a twitchy QB or RB that demands your Mike to have an afterburner.

I hate that White is out but this is as good of a game of any to miss. Hope he recovers soon and is able to roll for the playoffs. Even if he isn’t, Tampa wouldn’t be at a critical disadvantage if he is out vs. Washington or Dallas. Giants could be another story.

Minter is a solid player and better in coverage than White. Not much if any dropoff.

Going towards the line of scrimmage Devin may already be the best MLB in football. Dropping back, Minter might actually be an upgrade. The team will survive this game

Having Minter is a life saver. He is about as solid as it gets for a reserve LB.

It’s good to have Jack back. Familiarity with the scheme is a big plus. Maybe he can stay healthy this time.

This kid showed promise when on the field. Injury issues have plagued him though, so here’s hoping he can stay healthy

Yikes…. I have always been big on Cichy but (same) he can’t stay healthy. Glad to have him back he deserves to be here.

Ugh this sucks. Minter is a capable back up and is likely better in coverage than White but he doesn’t have Whites speed or power. Lately White has been big part of why they are winning with his blitzes getting home. Shaq sounds like just pre-caution.

I like Cichy and he has shown promise but the guy just can’t stay healthy. I’d be surprised and happy for him if he could.

When Cichy is healthy he is a fine LB and knows our system so I am so glad we got him back and need to keep him here. I also am a big fan of Kevin Minter too so we will be fine. Beat those Dirty Birds one more time.
