Our new QB looked good against admittedly weak competition. At least he took care of business. I'm watching him closely because I've never really been a fan of him. If I was in the market for a graduate transfer QB this summer I would have pushed a little harder to turn Braxton Miller. It still shocks me how quickly Ohio St. moved on from him. That guy was 2x Big Ten player of the year and now he'll be used in gimmick/specialist type role. I digress......As good as Golson looked I like how Jimbo called the game. Our offense should flow through Cook & Pender(get Patrick in there more as year progresses). Use the run the set up the pass. In the past, Jimbo stubbornly used the opposite approach. We have a turnover prone QB in a new system and a heisman caliber RB in Cook(paired with Pender as a nice side kick). So lets continue to pick our spots with Golson and keep his attempts in the twenties for a while and instead ride Cook & Pender. I thought first team defense looked good and it was primarily special teams that set up their offense to do anything. Do we have anyone that can catch a punt? >:( Cripes, all the 4 and 5* skill guys we bring in and the PR game is always an adventure.
