Alex Marvez ?@alexmarvez 2mEchoing other media reports, I spoke to someone in @TBBuccaneers organization & belief is Lovie Smith strong favorite to become head coach
Good rundown....but on what planet is David Shaw underrated?

If the Bucs have contacted Lovie already then are they letting him pick the GM?

If true, they'd be giving Lovie an awful lot of power. And it does seem they're going for HC first, doesn't it?
There are 62 coordinators all who should be looked at.
There's no doubting the fact that Lovie Smith is a well respected and versed coach, what scares me is everyone riding this idea of getting back to the Dungy days. Those were great times, but they aren't what will work now days. We need coaching and management that combines both NFL experience and on the cusp offensive and defensive strategy. Lovie can't come in here and expect to play thenTampa 2 with success. The game had changed and our personnel is not made up of Tampa 2 players.Second, we need an offensive minded guy. Successful teams are mostly made up of offensive minded coaches and of course franchise QBs. Lovie can't come in and play a pro style offense that wants to establish the running game on first and second down. Today's NFL has changed. I don't know if Lovie has changed with it enough to be a success again.

I think Lovie would bring respect and stability and I agree with you the "Dungy days" are done. People forget those offensive offenses too easily. Fans would quickly tire for a boring low scoring offense wasting a great defense. Now if a strong OC were brought in along with another top QB? Depends on two things IMO. Who is the new GM going to be? Will the Glazers let him use his experience and expertise (HOPEFULLY) to hire a HC who will realize the importance of offense in today's game?Lovie would keep the best of what this team already is and make it better. But we'll need more than that to sniff winning the South again anytime soon.
I like The Lovie as HC Idea...But....What would you think of Mike Martz and go with offensive type mind ...I'm not touting anyone...maybe just thinking out loud...

I think Lovie would bring more to the table as far as players wanting to come here, consistency and his record. Mike Martz needed Kurt Warner and Marshall Faulk and astro-turf. Maybe that's too harsh but I just think Lovie would be a better choice though I'm STILL in favor of getting a GM FIRST!

I don't think this logic fits. Just because they hire Lovie first, doesn't mean the new GM will be picked by Lovie.Think of it as the team wanting to strike on Lovie while he is still available, then going for their GM afterwards. Basically the new GM doesn't get to pick the coach his first year, but he is still an independent hire. I'm sure Lovie will suggest some people, but just because he is hired first doesn't mean the GM is hand picked by Lovie.

I hear you Garv....I agree with you....like I said...just thinking out loud....So you don't think Glennon = Kurt Warner?.....Please don't answer that....I was just kidding
Don't be surprised to see a Lovie Smith, Hardy Nickerson, Jeff Tedford, Shelton Quarles collaboration.
In just one day after our last game, the 2014 season became exciting and meaningful for me; I might ever purchase some tickets now.
