bve, can you be more specific on the trade? Not to whom, but an idea as to what compensation your talking about? In 2011, Cleveland traded the 6th pick in the first round to Atlanta, for Atlanta's 2011 1st round pick #26 , 2011 2nd round, 2011 4th round, 2012 1st round, and 2012 4th round.I get your point about the possibility of sticking with Glennon for a year and having more ammo next year to draft a qB in case Glennon doesn't work out.My thinking is...Coaches will go with whatever scenario buys them the most time to keep their job. That's not always best for the franchise long term, but unfortunately I believe it's most often the deciding factor.

This thread is not about what the Bucs WILL do, it's about what they SHOULD do. Thanks for researching the Cleveland-ATL trade terms, that's very interesting. Of course we all know Atlanta overpaid for that trade, although in light of how well Julio Jones has played, I'm sure they don't regret it. But there is no way the Bucs, with an inexperienced GM, are going to get that favorable a trade. I would want to get enough ammunition so that, combined with a middle round 1st round pick in 2015, we could trade up and land one of the top 2-3 picks of the draft. So that would mean a Nr. 1 and a Nr. 3 in 2015, plus that teams 2014 Nr. 1 pick. That would suffice if the team we were trading with was mid-round. If they were at the bottom of the round, like Atlanta was, I would want more.
If Lovie & Tedford thought that there was a QB at 7 that was a perfect fit for them then why not trade Glennon for a late 1st or 2nd. Bring in a vet (McCown) backup and roll with the rookie. They would start fresh with there guy and get value for Glennon.
I like this idea too Bucfan -- a lot. But we would need to get more than a 2nd. Maybe a 2nd and a 4th, or a late 1st. Glennon is a very good backup QB and a potential starter, and you don't give those away unless you get something of value in return. But if we draft another QB high, Glennon's trade value will plummet afterward, so if we are ever going to trade him, we need to do so before (or simultaneously with) drafting his replacement.
