Seattle won their division with the number 1 defense and slightly above average offense.Carolina has week offensive personnel but the number 3 defense and won their division.Kansas City has a poor offense, but while healthy had a top 10 defense.Cincinnati had a below average offense but the number 5 defense.Only Philadelphia and San Diego made the playoffs with below average defenses and excellent offenses. they aren't likely to do anything in the playoffs. Denver is the anomaly, but how many Payton Manning's are there.I would still cast my lot with a defensive coach provided that coach realized he needed a top offensive mind.
It's not a myth. Cindy is one and done. KC may get a win because of their schedule but hey are not going to the showbthis year because their offense isn't good enough. Panthers will probably be one and done too, but they are not going all the way and their success really depends on how Cam rolls. You seriously underestimate SEA and SF offenses, they both have game changers at QB.

Don't let facts get in the way of a good story do you?Green Bay has the #3 offense and the #25 defense (they also stink for points allowed at 24th)New England has the #7 offense and the # 26 defenseThere are 7 top 10 offenses in the playoffs but only 5 top 10 defenses.There are just 2 bottom top offenses in the playoffs but 5 of the bottom 10.So more top 10 offenses & less bottom 10 make it but it's not an offensive league?Fact is only 4 of the 12 teams in the playoffs had a defense with a better ranking than their offense (and one of those still had a top 10 offense), the average rankings for all 12 teams is offense 11th and defense 15th.I'd say when 2 thirds of the playoffs team have better offenses it;s not a myth to say it's an offensive league.You seem to be picking and choosing when defensive stats you want to use to make your point depending on what team you are talking about, you say the Chiefs have a good D but they sucked in yardage while were good for points so by that criteria the Chargers shouldn't be "below average" with their 11th ranking for points in a 32 team league but there's your comment. There is no consistency in your ranking of who is good and who is below average.I know some people view rankings differently, some go by yards, some by points but you can't switch between the 2.As far as the points rankings go, they can be very suspect when you get into them because defensive rankings for some reason include offensive mistakes (like fumble returns & pick 6's) and the same is in reverse where the offense gets credit for their defense getting TDs.The perfect example is how the 18th ranked scoring defense of the Giants actually allowed 1 less TD than the 5th ranked Chiefs, the main difference comes from the Chiefs offense & STs not causing adding to their total while the Giants D gets the "credit" for allowing 3 punt returns, 3 pick 6's & 3 fumble returns, that's a 9 TD swing that has nothing to do with the defense but they get the blame.

Offense.With a good defense you can sneak in but it is rare for a defense to win championships unless you have elite caliber.
Defenses need some help in the TOP department.
