Finally we are showing some intelligence in advance of the draft. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/02/20/lovie-smith-says-the-bucs-have-to-consider-a-qb-at-no-7/ Regardless of what we are planning to do with that pick, it's market value probably doubles if other GMs think we are intent on taking a QB. Teams give up a lot to trade up for a QB -- a lot more than if they are trading up for an OT or DE. I wouldn't take Carr with that pick, I would only take one of the other top QBs. But I sure as heck would be putting up a big smokescreen to make other GMs think I would take a QB at Nr. 7.
I think by the time we pick, TB, JFF, and Bortles will be gone. If we like one of the other guys, we will probably need to take him at 7. Regardless of whether that is Carr or Garrapollo or someone else we have a high grade on. THe only thing we can wait until later on would be a true developmental project, and even that we might have to take in round two if we can't recoup the third we threw away somehow.
