The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be unveiling their new uniforms on Wednesday, but decided to give the world a sneak peak on Monday with the release of a picture of running back Doug Martin in the new look. Despite the picture, the uniforms are actually dark pewter, not black. https://www.pewterreport.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=9657:&Itemid=15
First reaction for most in life is to be anti-change. And I'm really trying to fight my reaction to this change - but on first look, for me, I do not like it. Maybe seeing it in person will help, and maybe I'll get used to it, but there's just too much going on with that uni for me to be excited about it. The best football uniforms are simple in nature. This is the exact opposite.
They are certainly very busy, and I find the logo on the helmet is just too big for my tastes. But hey, if these lead to more wins and a SB like the last new unis, I'm willing to bite my tongue...er, I mean, shield my eyes until I get used to them.
It's awful. Nowhere NEAR as good as the one it replaced. What the hell are they thinking? Oh yeah, jersey sales and more money. I guess the "throwback" game will now be the Super Bowl uniform. In short, it sucks. Will winning football games overcome the bad taste? Sure. But why in HELL was this mess necessary? Oh yeah, jersey sales and more money........from suckers.
A little shocked that it's such a drastic departure from the old. I expected token modifications but, this is a little much.
I'll wait to I see them on the field. May look way better - though the Seahawks had the ugliest uniforms ever but quicly learned to really like them, so I'll be patient.

I like how they look... that aside, it's kind of odd this time around. When we got the first change our old uni's were near-unanimously hated, and we'd never had sustained winning so a makeover made total sense with the new regime. This time around it's different. We've won some and the uniforms aren't regarded as hideous. But I have a hard time blaming the Glazers for wanting a kind of reset. We've been in purgatory for a decade. Now we have Lovie back and a fresh start of sorts. That and they're probably doing whatever they can to try to reengage the fan base and get some excitement going. Winning will do that, not the uni change...
the uniforms aren't regarded as hideous.
Bit of an understatement, that. I think we had the best in the league two weeks ago. Now not so much. Which explains a lot of the anger -- people liked our old unis. If you're going to change them you have to make them better. Anything else is a huge fail.
I personally am a traditionalist! I liked the old Creamsicle uni's - grew to love the old pewter uni's - and think that the new designs will grow on me. Ultimately its not about what the players ware but how they preform. I like that they updated the "Buccaneer Red" - have incorporated a bit more of the "Bay Orange" - the concept in general looks appealing - especially the home uniforms.
Few thoughts:1. Don't like the airbrush looking skull on the helmets2. Don't like the odd brownish pewter color. Why not just go black? Color palette seems to pulling a bit from the 70s … brown and some orange?3. Find the numbers font odd, interesting and a throw back to the 80s. Trying to get the gamer vibe going?

That's my gripe. I really like our "old" uniforms, one of the best in the NFL. Why change a great thing to a video game look? Because.......they can and there's nothing to be done about what the Glazers want to do. Has to be about acceptance. When it comes to the Buccaneers there is no other avenue.
I understand why they did it. Absolutely get it. Part of the process of moving on from the great teams of the early 00s - the teams whose players are still more popular around the Bay Area than anyone from these teams. Today's players are STILL living in the shadow of Brooks, Sapp, Barber, Alstott and so on. So I completely understand the need to redesign and go a different direction....but it still doesn't mean I like it as I agree with Garv in the old unis being some of the best the NFL, or any sport, had to offer. But it is what it is. I said this on the Red Board, but I was at the Rose Bowl when Oregon rolled out the reflective metallic helmets with chrome facemasks. Seeing those in person on a beautifully sunny day was unlike anything I've seen. It was pretty sweet and they don't really come across well in any other forum but in person. If the chrome on our helmets and the reflective nature of the jersey (as well as the shade of pewter) are anything like that then I'll be more in favor of this change (while also questioning why they didn't have the guys on the field, in the sun, to debut them in the first place)
Going to sound like such a wishy washy....... but....... they're starting to grow on me! Looked at the Buccaneer video with McKoy and Martin and they DID look pretty good. Next step is to see them on the field. So changing.....fast. Might have jumped the gun on this one. Shocking I know.
