I am very happy with Smith and his choice of DC but I wish he would have picked an OC with a proven track record in the NFL. It will be a real learning experience going from college offense to NFL. His only pro experience is as a QB in Canada. His claim to fame is grooming QB i.e. Roger and Dilfer.Offense is where we really need some help and I hope he can do it but it will take a whole season or two before we end out.Does anybody know why Smith is taking such a long shot?
Because he doesn't consider it a long shot. Because Tedford is a good teacher, and an offensive mind. Because he's proven to be a great mentor of QBs. This guy has been on NFL radar before, so it's not like it's an idea out of left field.
Stay tuned. You'll have the chance to answer your own questions, one way or another.
