Why the heck we run a draw every time we get in second and longer than ten.I mean we do it every time we get a sack or penalty that puts us there. We all see it coming, do they not self scout? Please ask Schiano this in a presser. It's beyond absurd at this point.
Good question to ask but my guess is the answer would be along the lines of not wanting to turn the ball right back to the opponent with no time run off the clock. IOW...give the defense a chance to rest.

Which you ensure happens by having almost zero hope of converting 3rd down.

It's not a situational thing. We do it about 90% of the time in that down and distance, regardless of whether its the first quarter or the fourth. It's predictable as hell. It comes after a pass play on first down where we either lose yardage or were already longer than 10 from a prior penalty. Everyone on the planet can see it coming.

Not saying I agree with it but I think that would be the answer. There are teams in the league who barely bat an eye at a 10 yard penalty on first down. They just go after it anyway. The Bucs aren't one of them and the penalty seems to be a complete set of downs killer far too often. Look at the Bucs yardage since the Falcons game. It's a joke considering some of the long gains they have had such as a couple of deep balls to Jackson and Rainey's 80 yarder.

I think that the "punting isn't a bad thing" mentality comes into a play. Thing is you dont need all 20 yards back or all 15. Just get it to 3rd and 10 which is tough but at least makeable.

Ad more often than not teams are going to give you close to 10 on that, they'll play it soft and be happy with third and long. I don't even mind the occasional draw, that habits place in that scenario. But not every time. Not even half the time.

I agree. Right now the Bucs offense is reduced to a dink and dunk with the exception of the occasional deep ball or, as in today's game, the opponent sits back a bit and is willing to give up some short stuff. There's just very little dynamics to the whole thing.

Well we don't have many dynamic parts to play with truthfully and toss in a rookie QB. My expections are low but this offense has managed to tunnel under those expectations I think that the run, take shots and punting is OK mentality from the HC is gonna hold us back because we are just gonna keep getting variations on this scheme.
Schiano's Press conference says it all; he states that he plays a style that expects to be close enough late in the 4th quarter to win the game. That's why we are 4-10 and in two weeks we will be 4-12. No way does Schiano deserve another year!
Will Schiano get another year whether he is 4-12 or 5-11; probably. Does he deserve another year; no.
My initial thought is that it's a rookie QB, they want to limit his mistakes and 3rd and very long is a perfect time to press (and turn the ball over).

sounds like the same thing we heard from Dungy for years
The guy that got us back to respectability? Doesn't sound like terrible company
Schiano compares more to Wyche at this point than Dungy.
