I mentioned Bowles ' lame-ass defense when we won the Super Bowl with Brady. When we lost to the Rams, I tried to tell people the Super Bowl run was catching lightning in a bottle and that loss was the evidence.
This offense can be a 14-win offense, and with Bowles' defense, it will manage to eke out 10 wins.
I said after the season that getting over the losing streak is not just a matter of Xs and Os. You don't just make adjustments and move on. It takes its toll on the psyche of the players and that can't just be removed with a pep talk or a new assistant coach. The bad taste doesn't go away that fast.
Evans didn't get over it. That's why he left. It's about the feelings down deep in your gut. That's the hardest part to get over, and Evans couldn't forget. Like your significant other cheated on you. It may be logical to think it's over and done with, but it's not that easy to just forget about it and move on. Don't let anybody on the Bucs pretend they aren't still feeling the gut punch. Not Lavonte. Not Mayfield. Nobody who was here in 2025 has moved on. They may have moved on to another team, but they haven't moved on from what happened.
With the draft, a new training camp, and preseason hope springs eternal in the NFL. The team is excited, the fans are hyped up, it's a new day. That's the NFL. Every fall the team and fans are ready to take on another season. Maybe they'll turn things around. Maybe they won't feel that gut punch anymore. Or maybe they will and the only way to move on is to move on from Todd Bowles.
Bucs need leaders to step up because the coaching staff other than Caldwell, Peele, and Foote are not going to get the stank of the collapse out of the minds of these young players.
