Rich McKay may want to return to Tampa where he has roots and his wife is a 4th generation and her Mom and Dad live in Tampa.

Maybe so but it's not about Rich and his family but what's best for the Buccaneers. Some may not remember but after Rich McKay left here the Buccaneers were in a LOT of CAP trouble. I believe the same thing happened in Atlanta and he was moved away from the GM spot. I like McKay for what he and his father brought to Tampa but that was then and this is now.Nostalgia is nice but it can lie when leaned on as a new reality.Just typing that the new GM has to be hired for the future and not the past.

Still waiting for PR to post an article about GM candidates... Seems ass-backwards to have an article about HC candidates before an article on GM candidates. Let's get the organization in order from the the top down for once! I mean, Rich McKay is a good executive, but not a good GM. I would take him as team president and allow him to hire a GM and a coach.

That's reasonable and I certainly agree we should have a GM BEFORE hiring a HC. Not sure the Glazers think that way though. They pretty much hire who they want at HC, whether or not the GM agrees with them. At least that's what I'm led to believe.

I concur.  I think McKay would be disastrous.

I would probably have a meltdown if McKay were hired.  However, the Glazers would think, "Bucjoe had a meltdown?  SO WHAT??"

ROTFLMAO! The visual is hysterical Joe! But I want you to know that I'D care. It doesn't make any sense anyway. Why not bring in Keyshaun to coach receivers while we're at it?

The new GM person may have negotiated LS contract for all we know?  My thinking is that the Head Coach will have total control of player personnel, coaches, and the GM will do the rest; both report directly to the Glazers.

Lovie may not have total control, but he'll have a lot. And he'll definitely have a hand in selecting the GM - so even if the GM has a decent amount of power, he's still Lovie's guy.

If it's Ballard, he'll need a bean counter with NFL CAP experience. Mark Dominik did a good job in that area. Rich McKay was awful and Bruce Allen, Jon Gruden paid for it.

It looks like the team will keep Mike Greenberg to handle the contracts, which sounds like a good move.  He has a strong reputation, from what little I've heard about him.

Am I the only person here that remembers that McKay played footsie with Arthur Blank while botching the GM job his last year in town? I appreciate his role in the rise of the Bucs, but he burned the bridge as far as I'm concerned.
