Big implications, around $6.2 million I believe. But high priced older vets get cut all the time, and while it would hurt the team, I think the message sent would be huge. It would tell everyone that salary, prominence, your name, or anything elsewill keep you from getting cut if you don't hold up your end of the bargain of what the organization expects you to be. Greg caught some unfair flack for his big bad sheriff mentality, getting rid of guys, but that wasn't just Schiano, that directive was highly influenced by those above him. And I don't really see that changing under Lovie. Again though, we want nothing more than Mike to get serious and be the best player he can be.
His cap hit would be $6.4 for 2014 which adds $4.6mil to the cap. I don't see it happening at least at this point.

My reading on it was that it was still 6.4, but you could divide it over two years in a 1.2 and 5.2 split

That was what Scott provided 'doc - 1.2 this year and the balance the following year - when likely a FA is gone, and/or the cap is increased.

That Tampa Times piece was vivid... hate to say it, but Mike Will sounds like a straight up s@#$ bag. Its a shame because we need him. At this point he should be on a total zero tolerance policy. If he doesn't proactively unscrew himself then kick him to the curb. There's other WR to be had who wont embarrass the team.

They could do it that way, I guess. However this isn't a situation in which it is a signing bonus which has already been paid. The team still owes him $6.4 million in salary plus some other bonuses IIRC. It's unlikely he'll be cut. That aside, Steve White had some interesting comments regarding players partying Friday's prior to games.
