Big implications, around $6.2 million I believe. But high priced older vets get cut all the time, and while it would hurt the team, I think the message sent would be huge. It would tell everyone that salary, prominence, your name, or anything elsewill keep you from getting cut if you don't hold up your end of the bargain of what the organization expects you to be. Greg caught some unfair flack for his big bad sheriff mentality, getting rid of guys, but that wasn't just Schiano, that directive was highly influenced by those above him. And I don't really see that changing under Lovie.  Again though, we want nothing more than Mike to get serious and be the best player he can be.

His cap hit would be $6.4 for 2014 which adds $4.6mil to the cap. I don't see it happening at least at this point.

Scott has a different evaluation in his article today

My reading on it was that it was still 6.4, but you could divide it over two years in a 1.2 and 5.2 split

They could do it that way, I guess. However this isn't a situation in which it is a signing bonus which has already been paid. The team still owes him $6.4 million in salary plus some other bonuses IIRC. It's unlikely he'll be cut. That aside, Steve White had some interesting comments regarding players partying Friday's prior to games.

Agree the bucs will be paying the 6.4 - the point was over time, and perhaps with the benefit of the cap being increased in the second year

In essence that Friday before gameday parties are not unusual or new.

Not surprising. Its the tone (ie. excessive) of the parties coupled with all the other issues is what makes them such a big deal.

Of course they aren't.  It's was a joke that the article implied a party from two nights before a game affected Williams' performance.  Even more laughable that a couple posters latched on to it.  The entire offense sucked in Dallas.  I suppose that was because of MW's party.Oh, and Williams was the Buccaneers' leading receiver in Dallas.  There are many other things to worry about Williams' behavior.  A Friday night party affecting his performance ain't one of 'em.
