Good, smart, well researched Fab Five! It's exciting to think of our new coaches getting together with the players and getting this thing going. There's a lot of willingness to get better on this team, especially with the defense on the verge of becoming great IMO.I really hope Connor Barth makes it all the way back. He has the perfect demeanor for a FG kicker, cool, calm, collected.I'm not sure about paying a lot for a Devin Hester though. I can't believe his best years are not far behind him though I certainly could be wrong.Hard to make late January interesting for a team not in the Super Bowl but PR continues to do just that.
"I'm not sure about paying a lot for a Devin Hester though. I can't believe his best years are not far behind him though I certainly could be wrong."I'm with you, Garv. A lot of the potential free agents I'm seeing bandied about are on the wrong side of 30. I'd rather pay for a guy on the way up than a guy on the way down.
As a returner though? Playing those few snaps a game might be less of an issue. Think of an ageing DE - you can often get good production with strictly limited snaps.

It isn't the wear and tear it is the loss of speed which if Hester isn't fast he's useless.
It's also the money. Let's not make this contract a "career achievement award".

Exactly. Big money for a kick returner over 30 would be a mistake IMO. I don't care what his name is, his best years cannot possibly be ahead of him. How about Karl "the truth" Williams instead? Or Billy white shoes? Just typing..... it depends on the money and health.
"Yet Englehard actually didn’t refute our report, as some may have suggested. He simply said he was unaware of any fines aside from uniform violations. Just because he wasn’t aware of the fines doesn’t mean they didn’t happen. I've put another call into Englehard, but have yet to hear back from him, and will gladly correct the story if there are any inaccuracies in my reporting."SR, did you ever get a call back on this?

The wear and tear certainly is a factor in loss of speed (it's not the only factor though). Accumulated injuries (small and big) certainly are significant in players slowing down as they age.Hester had good production last year right (not a leading question)?
