Offensive Guards:Ali Marpet was drafted in the second round (61st overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft, by the Buccaneers, after they traded their third round pick and swapped fourth rounder’s with the Colts to move up to select the Division III Hobart product. A LT in college, the Bucs moved Marpet inside to RG to start his career.  Marpet started 13 games in 2015, missing three games due to an injured ankle. He was voted to the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team after his strong 2015 rookie campaign. Marpet has ideal size and arm length, is a good athlete who plays with fine strength, technique, and leverage. Marpet is smart, aggressive, and a tenacious mauler, he can get movement on his run blocks and he has the agility to do well in pass protection, though he needs to become more consistent in that area. He can pull and block defenders at the second level. Marpet allowed two sacks and committed seven penalties (4 offensive holding, 1 unnecessary roughness, 1 illegal formation & 1 false start) in 2015.  The Buccaneers signed JR Sweezy, as an unrestricted free agent to a five-year deal worth $32.5 million, to replace retired LG Logan Mankins. Sweezy was drafted in the seventh-round (225th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft, by the Seattle Seahawks. Sweezy played along the defensive line for North Carolina State, where he started 20 of 35 games. In the pros he was switched to offensive guard. Sweezy started 49 of 59 regular-season games and 10 postseason contests during a four-year tenure with Seattle. Sweezy’s grandfather played fullback for the NC State. Sweezy is noted for his nasty play to the whistle demeanor and superb run blocking prowess. An underrated pass protector Sweezy has a strong upper body, long arms and a quick jab with the ability to recoil and strike again. Not a finished product as a pass blocker, yet he is for the most part technically sound, and physically tenacious enough to get the job done. Allowed 3.5 sacks and committed 10 penalties during the 2015 season. During his four year Seattle career Sweezy allowed 10.5 sacks and committed 24 penalties.  The Bucs drafted Caleb Benenoch in the fifth-round (148th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft. Benenoch closed out his UCLA career with 35 straight starts, with the majority coming at RT, with four coming at guard during his final season with the Bruins.  Benenoch has decent size, yet lacks ideal core strength to overpower defenders. Offers experience as a zone based blocker, impressive athlete with smooth lateral movement skills and good mobility and vision down the line. Dominique Robertson was signed as an undrafted college free agent following the 2016 NFL Draft, by the Buccaneers. Robertson played for Division II West Georgia, after transferring from Texas Tech. Robertson has excellent length and athleticism for the position. He’s a raw talent, with developmental upside. Robertson has good power and solid quickness. His uncle is George Warhop, current Buccaneers offensive line coach.
