He lives in Louisiana but told News Channel 8 Tampa means a lot to him.“Tampa is like family. It's a big family for me,” Taylor said.And he has extended family here.  Taylor's godparents, Nigel and Paula Thomas, live in Citrus Park. They knew he had it in him all along.“It just touched my soul. It touched deep,” Paula Thomas said.“It was awesome. It was awesome. It was awesome,” Nigel Thomas added.Monday night, Taylor told the audience he was accepted into a premiere music school for college but decided to put his education on hold while he cared for his mother.“When I was in 6th grade my mom had a stroke, and it left her paralyzed on one side of her body,” he said.But the Thomas' were there to help, serving as a second family for Taylor.“She bounced back by God and Robert. He was always the man of the house but he had to take a bigger step,” Paula said.Taylor is moving on to the next round of The Voice. He chose Christina Aguilera as his coach because she mentioned wanting to be a part of Taylor's family.“I'm a huge family person. I'm a huge family man. Anybody who knows me knows that and for her to say something like that, that really connected to me,” Taylor said.Taylor's Tampa family told News Channel 8, viewers haven't seen anything yet.
