Bucs need to be aggressive and nab another veteran edge, ILB and CB for the defense. Also a veteran WR with some size would be welcomed. If Licht can do that then the Bucs can go BAP throughout the draft and not worry about reaching for needs.
Agree 100%. It makes me very nervous to go into a draft banking that any of the picks will be impactful enough to avoid a season catastrophe. I would rather have a good mix of veteran leadership with the sprinkle of BAP to not have the weight of the team on their shoulders right away.Bucs need to be aggressive and nab another veteran edge, ILB and CB for the defense. From my view is that nab another veteran edge rusher and let the 2026 draft pick edge rusher push Braswell and/or Nelson off the roster Another veteran ILB means that Dennis would have to beat out two veterans and a drafted player and Nick Jackson. If he can do that he would have earned the right to start next to Anzalone. At CB you have Morrison and McCollum but the most stable boundary CB is the Bucs NCB Parrish. Bucs need to add another CB to push Morrison or McCollum or even plug in as a starter at one boundary CB spot allowing Parrish to stay at NCB.
For the WR group adding a WR veteran with size is kind of important if Robinson wants to make the short passing game work and to help out Mayfield.
I think Parrish has the ability to be a top 30 corner this season
I also would not mind a first round corner who we can leave on an island and free up Winfield and let him be a polamalu/buddha with full freedom so he only has to worry about 1 side of the field. I think having a shutdown corner is a luxury this defense can afford and put Winfield back in all pro numbers/impact. He’s too smart of a playmaker to keep asking to play help defense over the top

That is why I think boundary CB should be a high priority in free agency. Yes Parrish can excel at boundary CB but that puts a hole at NCB. Your fallback Izien is with the Lions now so that leaves JJ Roberts who is very green or moving T. Smith back to NCB.

Any combo of those
Easily a lot of free agents that would be upgrades for this team.

For whatever reason the Bucs always seem disinclined to go outside for incremental improvement. On defense, maybe complexity of scheme? Not good if that is the case.
Licht has options to salvage FA. Not sure why he would take cap space to the grave when vets would take 1-2 year deals.
Maybe he is soured from Reddick

Yes Licht can salvage this FA period but he has to be willing to see the flaws with the roster as well as the rest of the organization. Their evaluation of their current talent is over estimating a lot of players.

With the complexity of scheme the Bucs need to be all in with veteran players on defense.
Reddick isn't the first FA disappointment and won't be the last. But Licht has to get back on the horse and of course I don't need to tell him that. Because the other option is to leave it up to the rookies to save the season. That's not a plan.Licht has options to salvage FA. Sure - sign some one year deals and you're in good shape with picks and cap space when Bowles fails and you have to hire a new guy. But heaven forbid what if Bowles succeeds? Then you have to keep him but a lot of his players are hitting free agency. This "take it one year at a time" approach really isn't what Licht envisions I don't think. He wants a long term outlook.
What do you do with Bowles if he actually succeeds marginally? Say 10-7,win the division and one and done in the playoffs. That's a conundrum. You really need a coach who you can build with, so how many times do you keep kicking the can down the road on Bowles?

Or just play a simpler system lol
for all the pre-snap stuff Bowles does they still drop back into T2 and other simpler defense. Maybe be the like the Seahawks and just defend straight up more!

Reddick did his part but if they were banking on him and the 4th round rookies well GG goodnight and see you later in Paris.
Bucs need to be serious and load up on edge rushers, LBs, CBs, OG and WRs like it depends on it.
