To fire Madden, they would need to hire someone else just as good. I don't know if there is anyone just as good on the market. Don't fire someone just to do it.
At what point do they consider replacing Maddon? 64 games in and they own the worst record in baseball by 2.5 games. This isn't just a slump, or poor luck, something is seriously wrong with this team.
While I definitely believe Maddon deserves criticism, he has enough cred built up where he can have a bad season. With that said, if he doesn't send Shelton's ass to the unemployment, that should be forced on him. The inconsistent offensive production - which has turned into crap production - has been a problem for far too long.
Going back 4-5 years this team has before almost exactly the same as far as batting avg. That's a huge problem. Bottom 5-6 for that long with different players? That's a MGMT issue.

Been saying this for years now. Shelton blows.
Shut out again today? Is there some kind of super prospect in next years draft? Are the Rays intentionally tanking? I don't know that I've ever seen a team with such high expectations perform this poorly.
