The team is closer to a complete rebuild

lol.  They were "SB contenders" last season

Not according to most with a clue.

I am more than content to put my prognostications against yours ROFLMAO.  Want to take them one at time, TweedleDum?  Let's BATTLE!

oh wait . .. .  you'll just run . ..

Hey dishonest AF TweedleDUM this was on the first page of the thread you quoted lmao

We are a second tier contender until the defense shows it can be top 12

Agreed.  Its certainly possible the offense takes a step back and so all the more so needing the defense to get off the filed.

and even funnier  .. . . look who else was there agreeing:

More from Fab 5

As for the player the Bucs could offer up in a trade, it could be safety Antoine Winfield Jr., who is set to earn $19.5 million in cash this year and have a $27 million cap hit whether he’s on Tampa Bay’s roster or not.

Trading wide receiver Chris Godwin Jr. might make some sense on the surface given the fact he just turned 30 and is still recovering from a devastating ankle injury. But no team would want to acquire his $22 million guaranteed base salary, and the Bucs would not want to trade away Godwin if they happen to lose Mike Evans in free agency.

The Godwin theory is an interesting one. That injury was a major one and he hasn't looked the same since (and that is understandable). If I were running the ship in Tampa, I would get Evans to stay and probably seriously consider parting with Godwin.

I would trade Winfield for Crosby straight up

I would trade Godwin for Crosby straight up

I would trade a 2nd rounder for him

That's about it for me...

I'd rather we draft all front 7 and sign some vets

Trading talent for other talent is just trying to catch a falling rock with a wet paper bag.  Pointless.  Bucs need to stack talent to overwhelm other teams because this coaching staff can't coach up and develop players on defense.

I sorta agree but I think an elite edge is more important than an elite safety or wr2

Rumor has it the lions were ready to meet the raiders trade demands of two firsts for Crosby.

the terrion Arnold kidnapping & assault allegations after he was allegedly robbed twice apparently putting the trade on hold.

With the NFL rule changes I am not so sure anymore.  If Winfield Jr becomes a turnover machine Crosby would have to force a lot of fumbles to be on par.  WR2 is a given to be replaceable but at the same time the Bucs would be forced to used a higher draft pick on a WR when they need to use draft picks on TE, OL, DL, EDGE, ILB and DB.

I'd definitely prefer to keep Evans in town over Godwin (I'm hoping that Zac can make him a focus and get his some generated targets that Grizzard wasn't able, or willing for whatever reason to make happen, to persuade Evans to stay) and here's why...Every single WR on the roster outside of Evans are in the Godwin mold ( solid Z, but better suited for the slot )....Evans is the ONLY true X reciever of the bunch.  I know he's on the back 9 of his career only having 2 maybe 3 years left, but I'd like to see Tampa continue the tradition that VJ started by showing Mike the ropes with the next Generation X reciever . Let me make it clear that I prefer that the majority of the draft, and FA to be allocated to the defensive side of the ball. The scenario that I'm about to mention is all based on Licht using FA to flood the ILB,OLB,TE,DL rooms with a mix of solid, and bargain level players with a splashy signing like Nick Chubb, and only internal resignings being Evans,Keift, and our RFA Izien, and Tucker...If Godwin were to be traded to clear up some additional cap room (he'd like carry to dead cap hit of 20 mil due to prorated bonuses only for this year, but also open up 13-14 mil in cap savings for this year) I'd like to see Tampa use a second rounder on Malachi Fields out of ND if he were to fall to our pick to fill that future X spot.  So for me the draft would shape up as 1. Edge or best avaiable LB but preferably Edge, 2. Fields, 3. Best ILB or BDPA (best defensive player available), 4. IOL ( Licht seems to like OL here ) 5. BDPA, 6. BDPA, 7. BPA.

After listening to Licht and Bowles at their recent press conference, Ledyard and Queipo think the Bucs are very much in the running for Maxx Crosby and that, IF they pulled it off, it would likely involve a trade of a key player.  They were discussing a fist round pick a  3rd round pick and a player, the player being a key asset the Bucs have, especially with Spytek at the raiders, and also a form of financial relief that makes getting Crosby possible.

To them the two most likely players: Goedeke and AWJ

SR's recent Fab 5 makes similar suggestions.

Would you support it? the 2026 1st, Goedeke or AWJ, and a 3rd (or 2nd round) pick for Maxx Crosby?

No.  I hope the Glazers neuter Licht and let him work with the draft and FA only.  No trades.  This team isn't a Maxx Crosby away from CONTENDING.

Seriously?  SMDH.  This team is a year away from a total rebuild if Baker craps the bed again.  Jason Licht shouldn't be allowed to trade anything.  He sucks.

He sucked pre Brady and weird...he sucks again.

.449% = loser after 12 years

His win % is a lot lower than it should be, but lets not pretend like his win % is a reflection of his performance when he's only had a hand in selecting 2 of the 4 coaches that he has worked under since he's been here.  It didn't help his win % that Lovie went 8-24 his two years here, nor the fact he had to pretty much build this roster from the ground up, as the roster was pretty devoid of talent when he arrived...He had no hand in Lovie, and he had no hand in Bowles...Even if he wanted to move on from Bowles after Brady's last year there was no way that would be signed off on by the Glazers at that juncture.  Licht is one of the best GM's this team has ever had, and one of the better GM's in the league....Is he perfect ? No he's not, he has hits, and he has misses like every GM, but he's a solid at talent aquisition, and finding talent that contribute in the later rounds of the draft, and he is solid at managing the cap, which are ultimately the only 2 things that he can control...He was able to make the cap work in our Favor to bring in Brady and the rest when he did, and he navigated through a terrible period of cap hell with multiple years of several million in dead cap hits as a result of going all in for the Super Bowl, all while maintaining a pretty solid overall record, and talent pool during that time.

Changing his tune

Jason Licht: We feel really strong about our team. We feel like this last year, at least I do, there was just a lot of things that happened that we weren’t predicting. A lot of injuries, things like that. Now, we need to get better; we need to add more players. No doubt. I own that. But I think we can get back to a place that we were prior to this year and be even better just maintaining the same process that we’re at.

@bucsbits Thanx for posting that :)  I'm just glad that we have a GM that owns his mistakes and corrects them....Over the years there's been far too many executives who buy their head in the sand and their ego won't let them admit to their mistakes..One thing I've always appreciated about Licht is he admits his mistakes and is quick to move on from them rather than let them fester.  Now if only Bowles could get past the stubborn ego as it pertains to " his guys, and his way "

Also this

"“I think even if we had made the playoffs and made some noise in the playoffs, no matter how far we went, I think we’d still be in the same position that we are right now,” Licht said."

I disagree with that.

Because there is a difference with players showing they have hunger and players quitting.  Licht must move on from players that quit and it is a simple as that.  Bowles doesn't escape blame for multiple season mid season skids.  But you can't have players on the roster that are not professionals.

Lots kif chatter suddenly about Hendrickson

"There were two primary reasons why the Buccaneers won the Super Bowl five years ago. The first was obviously Tom Brady. The second was the defense was suffocating with a great ability to pressure the quarterback. The Buccaneers have lacked the ability to generate pressure, but obtaining Trey Hendrickson would change that and would allow the Buccaneers to become a legitimate threat in the NFC."
