I don't mind the trading of Price. But you got to do better than that. They should have gotten several top prospects for Price.The Rays could have waited till the off season and probably gotten just as much if not more.
Now is the high point of his trade value. After the season, it would of been even less. They didn't have much leverage in this trade. Everyone knew they were shopping him, and there was very little chance of the Rays keeping him. They can not afford him. So they had to take what they could get.
The GM got schooled on this trade. Could have done this good or better in the off season. The trade sucks, very disappointed. The Rays GM has always been pretty good with trades, not this time.

Sorry, there's NO doubt in my mind that none of the players we acquired will ever be half as good as Price is on a position by position basis. We got hosed badly, this wasn't even close. We didn't get any sure fire prospects. Smyly seems like a #5 SP with our staff anyway. Franklin is having a horrible year, and he is suppose to be the "centerpiece"? What a joke. Franklin is a good player don't get me wrong but you cannot convince me that trading Price who's having a terrific season for a #5SP, IF who's having a bad season, and a 18 yrs SS prospect amounts to a player of Price caliber. We're done.Anyway, so I guess we don't have high expectations from Hak-Ju Lee anymore.
Smyly's production/$ projection for the next 4 1/2 years is why he is a Ray. Franklin's having a good year in AAA. No doubt he needs to do that in the majors. MLB has Adames as the Rays #2 prospect.I was surprised the Rays didn't land another team's "top prospect", but hopefully at least two of these guys will eventually produce for several years.Just get out of that depressing place they'd like to call a ball park. That will help with revenue.
Adames is in Low-A ball, people. Not Single-A, below that.Very depressed about this trade. Not sure how the team could get more for Matt friggin' Garza than they got for Cy Young winner in his prime.
