Over the weekend, the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., rang their bell 200 times in a row. This was done to acknowledge the fact that this country will surpass 200,000 deaths once the most recent data is released this morning.
It is a sad testament that a country that comprises 4% of the world’s population, and utilises 50% of the world’s natural resources, make up roughly 25% of the deaths attributed to this virus, yet we have no national plan to correct this path.
It is further saddening that this is so unnecessary. Over the course of my lifetime, the world has looked towards the US for leading the charge in these times of crisis, and the US has some of the most talented medical professionals and agencies. This virus, as it exists everywhere around us did not have to be this way.
