How about SAGE?

This SAGE was built before NORAD! We're talking about something out of the Colossus: the Forbin Project which inspired the Terminator movies.

We're talking about a vacuum tube computerized nation wide controlled military defense system. Look at those jets; those are pre-starfighter 104's.

After this, they built NORAD, and no doubt built computers for both NORAD and SAGE far better than what's shown with these vacuum tube era computers. I actually watched a few NORAD documentaries a week or so ago. I wasn't googling NORAD or anything; they just came up on my youtube suggestions, so I went ahead and watched them. They've more than doubled the area of NORAD since the 1960s. One can only imagine the computer used in these nation wide computer systems; but, I remember thinking, when watching these NORAD documentaries that NORAD, and the F.B.I. and C.I.A. couldn't detect terrorism of 9/11

You watch and listen to all the middle east and Africa wars, and you wonder, "how do they get all these M-16s and grenade launchers" and so on.

Regardless of what the modern state of these system is, the video is kind of fun to watch.
