Mick Mulvaney is the Trump "yes" Man (Chief of Staff) in the White House. On the weekend news show circuit he actual said about the Russian investigations:
"The issue is not whether it's ethical'
The Russian investigation has serious national security implications.
The GOP led an investigation of Clinton that started with Whitewater, a land deal that came to the attention of the world DURING A PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN . . . and that became an investigation of sexual harassment suits, handling of FBI files, and firing of white house staff and more . .. .
and Trump actually brought all this stuff up in his own Presidential race, lol
