Hendrik Dietz is one of the leading dna-nanotech guys. His work has brought the time of designing/building dna-nanostructures from months, to days, then hours to minutes. He's since then shown the abilty to position molecules to nanometer precision, to doing chemistry.

As he shows in this video, he's been trying to make nano-motors based on thermodynamics. But, this is not very useful. Last year, others finally hit on the brilliant idea of making an electromagnetic nano-motor built out of dna-nanotechnology. I'm surprised I haven't heard much from that lately. It could be they're keeping things secret. I almost hope so.
