WWE put out an AWA history dvd. It's a great documentary. Talks about how Greg wasn't given the belt even though he was Vernes son because he just wasn't good enough.Lots of other neat info too. Didn't Verne kill a guy in a nursing home? Like pit him in a wrestling move then claim he couldn't control his actions?
Yeah. No charges were filed because he didn't know what he was doing due to his Dementia. Having grown up in Minnesota the AWA was all I knew until we got cable in the 80s. Looking up all these wrestlers on wiki is actually pretty interesting. Most of them have had interesting and tragic lives. A lot of them have ended up in jail or dead or their kids have.
You should check out that AWA dvd. There is also one for wcw, ecw, and wccw. The ecw one is probably the best one.
Speaking of Greg gagne, his daughter was a 25 year old HS teacher and got arrested for having sex with a 16 year old student a few years ago.
