Earlier this week this Costco shopper made himself internet famous for being a moron by posting a video of himself being a jerk and completely misunderstanding the very issue he's supposedly trying to protest. "And I'm not doing it because I woke up in a free country" the moron replies to a request to put on a mask. Bubba or whatever his name is clearly has no clue what he's talking about.

The "it's a free country argument" revolves around the notion that GOVERNMENT cannot or at least should not restrict an individuals freedom to do as they choose so long as it does not harm others and especially when the use of force is threatened to ensure compliance. In this case the guy is walking into a private business. This has nothing to do with being in a free country. This guy isn't alone either. Every day there are more and more of these people arguing with employees just doing their jobs and getting on the local news.

Even more aren't getting on the news because they aren't being told to put on a mask in the first place. I went to Publix the other day on my way home from work and was shocked at how many weren't bothering to wear a mask. I can only hope that most of them were just too lazy to find one and just don't give a shit because if it's a mass protest it's horribly misguided.

We live in a state that has very few remaining government restrictions in place. If you want to actually protest those restrictions, open your barber shop early or don't follow the social distancing guidelines but please be sure to inform your clientele or you should and will be sued to oblivion and rightly so, when someone actually dies because of you. The minute someone sets foot on the property of a private business you are subject to their rules and if you don't like them you can get the you know what out but that works both ways. We can patronize the businesses who protect us the way that we feel is appropriate and not go to the businesses that don't.

If you want to protest a lockdown I get it. If you want to protest a state order to wear a mask when you leave home or to not visit your own family I get it. But this other stuff is not a protest it's just people being jerks.
