I've been reading a lot about this incident lately, and I have some questions for any paramedics/cops/firemen etc that might frequent this forum. Is it normal for paramedics to have no access to victims in a situation like this? I can't imagine they'd keep these people out of the building, stopping them from possibly resuscitating a child that police believed to be dead, but that appears to be exactly what happened. To those who work in this field, is this common? If not common, is it something you've at least heard of at some point in your career?
You'd have to timeline it, until the building is secured they won't let anyone in for fear of creating more casualties. My wife works at a college and they do active shooter drills and according to the college response teams until the local commander gives an all clear no responders are allowed into the area and "the area" is pretty widely defined.
That makes sense, but how about NEVER being allowed in? From what I've read none of the victims were ever treated by a paramedic. This is just one of countless holes in the story, but I figured I'd start here. If I had kids and I learned that paramedics were never even given a chance to save my child, I'd be livid. Yet, I haven't found anything that shows the parents expressing concern over that. That just doesn't sound realistic or logical to me. Any parents who want to chime in and claim they wouldn't care about such a thing...have at it.
Doing a quick read, all the victims were hit twice -- at least one was hit 11 times. You are gonna have a ton of fatalities immediately with that sort of bullet count. Everyone was dead at the scenes other than two who died en route to the hospital. I assume the ones who were transported had medical attention. Don't see anything saying that first responders did do anything just that there wasn't much they could do.
To what degree are police qualified to confirm death? The ME said there were shots "all over" the bodies, when asked about it. There are many areas of the body that can take a bullet and not result in a death. Of course, if they'd ever release pictures this could be put to bed. I at least want to see pictures of Lanza at the school, those haven't been released either. The school apparently had a new security system installed just prior to the incident, yet there is video evidence of new cameras popping up on the school building the day AFTER the incident. So many questions, so little answers. Why were there so many black/silver cars at the school/firestation? Why were people at the fire station walking in a big circle? Why was Lanza's car registered to a grown man with a record? Why was an identical looking car shown (with the driver side window broken out) at the house of the man who claimed he found children sitting on his lawn? Why did nobody hear from Adam Lanza for nearly three years? Not even his neighbor. Why, with all of the media present and the news choppers circling above, is there only one picture of about 15 students walking in a line? 500 kids at the school, all apparently ending up at the fire station nearby, and one picture of about 15 students is all that exists? Check out the pictures available for the Columbine shooting. In 1999 there was no social media, no camera phones etc. Yet we have pictures of the shooters, we have pictures of bloody students being rescued through windows, bloody students being treated on the lawn of the school, the shooters laying dead in a puddle of blood in the library etc. Yet with Sandy Hook, not one single image of the victims, of any blood, or the shooter at the scene exist. Really?
