In the early 1970s enacted privatized medicine and insurance at the time I believe the United States had roughly 7500 hospitals and I believe that that has dwindled to roughly 6000 now, importantly the product of profit watching cost cutting that comes with privatization.

Even before the virus, healthcare was the number one political issue and something that had profound affect on people’s lives financially.
So, in some respects we are simply reaping what we sowed. Healthcare companies have made billions, insurance companies have made billions, but now when we need the system to care for the country it’s too small. It’s too small because it’s run like a very very efficient and profitable business.
