There's nothing accidental or unexpected about the Floyd murder and now the Atalanta shooting and the Kenosha shooting.
These are all the result of mindset that starts with "there is no systemic racism" and that FLAWED belief is LITERALLY the foundation of Trumpism as it relates to policing.
You don't have to agree , but you should at least READ (this is from a SINCLAIR station, hardly a liberal outlet):
George Floyd's death highlights Trump's reversal of Obama-era police reforms
WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) — It's been more than a week since George Floyd was killed after Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin pinned him to the ground with a knee to his neck for over eight minutes while three other officers watched.
The aftermath of the incident continues to be seen in nationwide peaceful protests. Separate incidents of violence have been met with the deployment of National Guard troops and threats of a military crackdown in scenes unlike anything seen in the United States for decades. Amid the calls for justice and outrage, many are asking, "How are we here again?"
HERES THE UNDISPUTED HISTORY OF OBAMA/BIDEN:
"Toward the end of the Obama administration, a series of high-profile killings of unarmed black men prompted the Justice Department to begin answering those questions.
In response to the police shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown, former Attorney General Eric Holder launched a Justice Department Civil Rights Division investigation of the Ferguson Police Department in Missouri.
During his two terms in office, President Barack Obama launched about two dozen investigations into law enforcement agencies suspected of chronic abuse and entered 14 consent decrees. The consent decrees were legal settlements that required police departments to follow reform recommendations made by the Justice Department.
UNIONS (like the one in Kenosha), objected:
"Several law enforcement unions opposed the decrees as burdensome and part of a pattern of vilifying police."
AGAIN THE HISTORY . . and NOTE WHAT TRUMP DID in BALTIMORE (as one example):
"During his final years in office, Obama's DOJ ordered reforms in Ferguson, in Chicago, where police shot 17-year-old Laquan McDonald and in Baltimore, where 25-year-old Freddie Gray was killed in police custody, in Cleveland, where police fatally shot 12-year-old Tamir Rice, among other cities.
The use of consent decrees was part of the 1994 crime bill written by then-Delaware Sen. Joe Biden. A provision in the bill empowered the U.S. attorney general to investigate and bring legal cases against law enforcement agencies that engage in "a pattern or practice of conduct" that violates civil rights."
HERE COMES TRUMP:
"Within months of taking office, the Trump administration began rolling back the Obama-era programs under the banner of "law and order" and a promise to end the "war on police." Then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions initiated a review of the policies enacted under the former administration to reform local police departments, including a thorough review of consent decrees."
"Sessions appeared ready to abandon the notion of enforcing consent decrees when he issued a 2017 memo to Justice Department leaders, asserting, "Local control and local accountability are necessary for effective local policing. It is not the responsibility of the federal government to manage non-federal law enforcement agencies."
IN OTHER WORDS, TRUMP/SESSIONS SAID, ESSENTIALLY, THE COPS CAN POLICE THEMSELVES
MORE . . HERE COME BALTIMORE where Freddie Gray was killed in custody . . . .
