Someone in the GOP suggested that Trump’s popularity would soar after impeachment, which is a really weird nod to Bill Clinton. However, polling to impeach Clinton never topped 38% (compared to Trump at 54%) and more importantly, Clinton apologized whereas Trump

Trump’s approach will certainly resonate with his base, some of whom will see it as DC versus outsider, but more popular overall?
American generally love to give 2nd chances but here, not so sure.
In any event, their polling must tell them
They can win in the EC with just their base.
