Here's a good example.
I really couldn't care less about Trump's fiances BUT he made it part of his sales pitch to get elected and the people who voted for him BOUGHT into this idea of "art of the deal" and "great businessman." Even I could see the benefit of having a strong, business-minded negotiator as POTUS, but it is now news because:
a) is that what we actually have in office (Iran, NK, Mexico paying of the wall) and
b) was the sales pitch false (i.e., is Trump a charlatan)?
Here's the NEWS and specifically WHY its news (below):
Trump's wealth in the spotlight with new disclosure forms
"The former real estate baron anchored his political appeal on his multi-billion dollar pile, claiming it showed he had the kind of ruthless deal maker's instincts that insulated him from political pressure and enabled him to thumb his nose at elites.
"I am smarter than they are, I am richer than they are," Trump said at a rally in 2018, showing how he uses money as a barometer of his own success and as a badge of honor to wield against an establishment that has never really accepted him.
IS THAT CLAIM PROVING TO BE TRUE? Again, I don't think it even matters BUT FOR the fact that he used it to get into office and so far its not working very well. It could all turn around, but . .
