What if Trump really goes off the reservation before his term is up? The 25th amendment states that if, for whatever reason, the vice president and a majority of sitting Cabinet secretaries decide that the president is “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office,” they can simply put that down in writing and send it to two people — the speaker of the House and the Senate’s president pro tempore. Then the vice president would immediately become “acting president,” and take over all the president’s powers.
Pence will be on board. He has always been a loyal conservative, but he is just trying to ride out the storm at this point. He can't abide by the destruction of the US Government because of one month of an insane President. So you would then need 8 cabinet officials. Against: Wolf, Carson, DeVos, Miller, Ross would probably be No's. Not sure about Rosen, Bernhardt, Scalia. But Mnuchin, Pompeo (already on Trumps bad side), Wilkie (Served under Bush), Perdue (former Dem and bi-partisan guy), Azar (Trump didn't listen to him about Covid), Brouillette.
So it could be a close vote.
