@catherder huh? My objectivity? Licht is a big boy. And I’ve questioned him for a long time. Any time is a good time to discuss issues as fans. That’s why we’re fans… we’re emotional. I don’t feel bad for Licht. He does a better job than we could do. But he gets paid to hear second guessing. And I give Bowles more crap than I give anyone. Get out of here with your high moral “objectivity” projection. Either join the discussion or don’t. I don’t care.
*Standing ovation*
The Rams have a better GM, an even better HC, and a vastly superior coaching staff. Look at how they've drafted and their FA signings, and how they develop all that talent. This is why the Bucs continue to languish in mediocrity. They do not continuously improve like great organizations do.
Rams next year:
* TWO picks in the 1st round
* Nearly $90M in cap space
Agree. @catherder is deploying a bit of sophistry.@catherder huh? My objectivity? Licht is a big boy. And I’ve questioned him for a long time. Any time is a good time to discuss issues as fans. Bridgewater getting the 1st team snaps
I don’t think Baker should play. However, I don’t know that our offense will be dynamic enough and Jacoby Brissett can shred our defense.
Going to be interesting game.
Baker will play, because Bowles gives the decision to the player. That's why Evans played when he shouldn't have and aggravated his injury. Thats why Godwin was still in the game when he got his ankle wrecked. That's why Baker wasn't pulled from the game where he aggravated his injury. Bowles doesn't stand up to his veteran stars and lets them decide. Of course they want to play and nobody is going to tell them "no."I don’t think Baker should play. I guarantee you stone cold lock Baker is the starter on Sunday.

He looked like a player that has no business being in the league

I agree he will play but will just velocity be there?
Well he hasn't been in the league for years, so that makes sense. He felt the pressure, but whereas Baker scrambled away from the rushers Bridgewater seemed to scramble right into their waiting arms. He did not seem to be able to sense where to go. Baker seemed to have that inate sense of how to slip through the cracks. Pe rhaps if he has to start he won't be forced to play catchup right away, and he'll have a chance to practice with the starters. Makes you wonder though how bad was Trask that they went with the old man instead.Bridgewater getting the 1st team snaps

Well he hasn't been in the league for years,
and I think he was on an excused family absence before joining the team, so talk about cards stacked against him.
Either way, probably unrealistic to have big expectation of Bridgewater
Don’t know if it’s Licht or Bowles or even both, but I think their belief is you build a defense from back to front. They’re constantly drafting multiple secondary players annually while ignoring the front seven. We drafted a MLB at number five overall, quite an investment, and them when we let him walk we replaced him with a fifth round mediocre player. This is such a huge drop in investment capital for maybe the most important part of Bowles defense. It’s the reason every one of us gets uncomfortable when the opponent has a third and very long. We know they’re going to find the huge wide open guy in the middle of our soft ass zone coverage.

Great post.
It could be their belief (back to front) because that seems to match their actions.
It could also be that they just haven't gotten to LBs yet. LVD came back, see what they have in SVD. If you accept for sake of argument that they are committed to building through the draft almost exclusively (ie this was not in their eyes truly a SB year) then you could see this is one potential explanation.
Minus that though, I agree that it seems like they believe building back to front even though that would be at odds with everything you see in football about winning in the trenches.

PFF Rankings (of 83 graded linebackers):
#69 - Dennis
#70 - White
God, Devin was such an atrocious draft pick. Could've had Allen (the obvious BPA and need).

Not to mention Germaine Pratt was available after the Raiders cut him, but the organization stood tall with defensive savior. All while Pratt is playing pretty well for the Colts.
I think the team should have given Jaelen Phillips a closer look too. I think he would have been worth a 3rd rounder, especially if they could extend him. Maybe they’ll look at him in the offseason.

Gonna need to address it in FA and the draft.
LVD is gone after this season and Dennis isn't a starter.
